We have like the same computer, except you have a lot more RAM than me and your processor is higher. It seems like your computer should run TS3 fine but I'm no computer expert.

I want a second opinion and see if my computer could run TS3:

How do you have 313 MB of RAM? That doesn't even sound like a correct number. Is that amount currently free, or your total? Reguardless though, I'd highly suggest upgrading it to 'atleast' 1 GB of RAM, if you don't have that already. If you don't get that, I would think you might have some performance issues with your setup. As for your other question, uninstalling anything wont help your RAM issue (unless it's a process running in the background eating up resources, but even that wont 'upgrade' your total amount of RAM, it'll just free up your current amount).

313 MB RAM is totally possible. It could be a weird combination of densities.

Once again I'd really recommend some of you at least try to learn more about your computers work. You're just setting yourself up for failure if you don't. You can't just rely on strangers to give you advice about things; you'll never have control over what you're spending your money on then. Believe me, if you go in a computer store and ask some dude there to help you find a computer to play The Sims are, chances are he's going to set you up with a dinky piece of shit, because most people, especially hardcore gamers, think The Sims is a silly game that isn't anywhere near the same league as Crysis ... when in fact it's extremely demanding if you want the game to actually look nice (and that's the thing, the graphic quality in The Sims is very important, because so many people use it for storytelling) and play smoothly.

It says Approx. Total Memory: 313 MB. But when I click on Computer, the first thing I saw was Memory (RAM): 896 MB.

Then, on Hard Disk Drives, it states Compaq: 169 GB free of 224 GB. I'm confuzzled.

Sorry for asking so many questions. It's just that there's so many confusing things on a computer that I just don't know what to think.

Yeah, I'll probably just run it on my laptop, which is pretty much brand new.

And there isn't a ton of stuff on it, so as long as I back up the important stuff it won't be the end of the world if SecuROM kills Vista or something.

I use vista and securom no problem but WAIT for it windows 7 ha. Comes out in a year will hurt a lot of games and stuff. Vista has it's own rootkits and stuff. Rather play on xp oh wait I do ;)
Just wait for the box to see the requirements. Nothing else to it and depending on settings you want x2 on recommended requirements would be good for about 3 exp packs. Bc 32bits has a limit on ram which sucks. Unless they release a 64bit version which many games are now that uses tons of ram but the tech behind spore ea should be using on sims 3 I would hope to keep ram down ;)

Merry christmas everyone! I just got a new laptop for christmas, and I think it'll play the sims 2 well. The only weird thing is I have 4gb of ram, an NVidia GeForce 9600 512mb graphics card, and a 2.0 GHz processor. I know that if you have bad ram and a good card the game looks good but runs slowly and if you have a bad card and good ram the game runs fast but you can't turn up the graphics settings, so what happens if both your ram and card are good yet the processor is a little slower than the minimum 2.4 GHz? :confused: Here's the computer I got;

yea, I just learned that processor type (Pentium IV vs Core 2 Duo) makes a difference... most laptops these days have core 2 duo, and 2.0 on core 2 duo is better than 2.4 on Pentium IV. So there's no problem

Made this a sticky so that people can keep all discussions on system requirements to one topic.

My laptop is a new one but like the worst of those which they were selling in the shops. I don't need the Sims 3 to work perfectly or even near to it, but please tell me does it work at all.. I would be grateful, cause I really don't understand these specification-things :).

Acer Aspire 5315
Technical specifications

I have a external hard-disc 300 GB.. I'm worried about the video card and the ... erm, processor thing. Do you think I could run the game with at least the minium graphics? Hope you find all you need from that link.

//Sims 2 is working good enough, but it likes to shut down sometimes.

:indifferent: )
1GB RAM(but I will upgrade it to 3 GB)
NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT 256.0 MB

Oh, I found the information:

Genuine Intel(R) CPU
T1400 @ 1,73GHz (2 CPUs), ~1,7GHz

2038MB RAM

Video card: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family 358MB

Can anyone tell, does that "2 CPUs" mean that it's 2 x 1,7GHz = 3,4GHz and does it works like that with Sims 3? Then I wouldn't have a problem, I think.

what about me

We only got a new one like last year.

Here's my specs

Processor: Intel Core 2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13 Ghz.
Nvidia GeForce 7300 GS
1 GB Memory/Ram.

This computer runs Sims 2 and Spore quite well like a breeze barely any lag whatsoever. I'm hoping i'm in luck.

Hey Sims Maniac I can tell you now. Your Ram definitely is not a problem nor is your Direct X nor your Video Card. You probably have some of the best features there. I would love to have over 3000MB of RAM.
Your Processor seems a bit wobbly though at 2.0.
What was it.... 2.4 minimum?
