Post A lot more info from german site translated better
New Listed Info From Recent Events (Part 2)
Full link
http://forums.sims-community.com/showth ... ost1333493

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You're welcome, everyone! I agree that it can be tedious to read through all of those posts, even though I don't mind it, but I know some of you do and that is fine.

This is a continuation of my previous listed info post, also another lengthy one. For the ones that I repeated, it just means that it's been confirmed or clarified. And as for the German-to-English translated info, my apologies if some things are a bit hard to understand, blame it on the Google Translate site (still better than Babelfish, though).

Sims3Cri Info:

01. Again, it mentions there are three natural color options for the skin tone, not four like it had always been mentioned before. So this must be official after two different sites mentioning it and it must have been changed, too, since it used to be four. I guess it would be like Sims 1 where it was three tones, only that it would be light and its various shades, medium and its various shades and dark and its various shades. So you can still get as light or dark as you want for each.
02. If you choose a certain color style for a hairstyle and then change the hairstyle, the color style you chose previously will remain so that you won't have to redo the color style.
03. Again, earrings are only teens and older. This is just to clear this up since I myself was not sure at first. Now it's official.
04. Looks like freckles and beauty marks aren't the only types of marks, as wrinkles are added, too.
05. Here is the reason why the development team decided not to make a BodyShop or alphas to edit (allowing players to modify transparencies and opacity, creating long and short sleeves where possible, etc.) and why they didn't come up with a tool to edit meshes... in the Sims Division there are several ingeneers that work on meshes for clothing, objects and other stuff, and they use a professional programto do that, called Maya, and everything they create must be adequate to certain standards, must work with every interactions, body shapes and stuff. What players have created for The Sims 2 is a universe of customizations, which is often badly created, incomplete and inadequate to EA standards. For example, have you ever downloaded a dress that doesn't change when a Sim gets fat or walks? They can't sell something like that. If you have seen those "Lost & Found" objects, they are objects that haven't been included in the game and hidden in the gamecode for this reason, and later extracted by experienced modders. They wouldn't even know how to create a mesh tool that supports all the animations that their professional utilities do. They don't say that the community will not find a way to do that, or maybe they will help us in some way... just that in the meantime, no new meshes or alphas.
06. It mentions 61 traits now, not sure why.
07. Apparently while having "story progression" on, a pregnant Sim will not only give birth on its own beyond our control, but a name will be random assigned, so no pop-up asking for a name will occur like some of us wondered about in the past.
08. Looks there are three different lot sizes: small, medium and large.
09. To go to another lot, you need to go to the neighborhood view and click on it. So that must mean no "clickable neighbors" option like in Nightlife EP. In other words, it's just like in Sims 2 only without a loading screen.
10. There will still be one new town available when we register our game.
11. You can still replace current Sims with whatever Sims you like so that you can fill the town with Sims of your choice.
12. Sims will now walk on a straight line, no more diagnal walking and what not. In other words, they really do act like there is a sidewalk and I guess the routing must be improved.
13. In Sims 2 when your student misses a school bus, they miss school period. Now if they miss the school bus, they can just head on over to another student's home and catch the bus with them. They would probably have to run I assume in order to have enough time before the school bus heads over to the school.
14. There still doesn't seem to be a private school mainly because there is no option to invite a headmaster to your home. But nothing is official yet.
15. Again, students with the workaholic trait will start their homework right away. It seems to be official now.
16. Teens cannot have any romantic interactions with young adults or older, even though many of us predicted this already.
17. When our Sims meet other Sims, they won't know anything about them until they learn about them, thus there will be question marks in their info for things that we have yet to know about them.
18. Apparently there is a fourth speed. Jeez, make up your minds, people! LOL This will definitely be useful for when they are sleeping.
19. The types of community lots that we can freely visit and build are: libraries, cemeteries, parks, lakes, gyms and pools.
20. Sims can grow the following ingredients: apples, lemons, grapes, watermelons, peppers, garlic, lettuce and tomatoes.
21. Ghosts do not float when playable, they walk and are like regular Sims with wishes and what not, just that they are transparent and look like ghosts.
22. Ghosts are color coded by death type.
23. Ghosts can hold objects but when they do, you only see the shadows of the objects since ghosts are invisible and objects would be in their case. The objects will look like they are floating in the air.
24. Ghosts enjoy scaring Sims and Sims who are easily scared will always get scared.
25. Only five deaths have been confirmed: old age, drowning, hunger, electrocution and fire. But there are more.
26. When a Sim dies, you can have the option to move the urn to the graveyard or keep it in the lot. Of course it will turn into a tombstone when outside.
27. Of course Sims still cannot and never will be able to kill other Sims.
28. Teens cannot get pregnant and I assume that means they cannot woohoo either.
29. Young adults are the most fertile Sims to have children.
30. Now pregnancy lasts 6 days again? Still, it's after the first 24 hours that your Sim will realize her pregnancy and will shift to maternity clothes. The pregnancy length is still the same even after changing the lifespan length.
31. Announcing the pregnancy can indeed lead to a negative reaction, mostly if the reactor has the "dislikes children" trait.
32. While we know that children will inherit their parents DNA as in Sims 2, children will also get hidden skills and there's no way to discover what they concern, and in fact, developers had very hard times testing them. Children can get traits that openly contrast with their parent's.
33. The Sims 3 launcher will be more complicated and rich in details. We can download files from the Exchange or see what we have already downloaded or saved, our videos and other stuff, and everything is divided into categories, so we can easily find Sims, clothing, lots, etc.

I thought it was a bit strange that MJ actually waved goodbye at a created Sim from closing the CAS window without saving and actually speaking Simlish to it. Apparently she loves her job so much to where she connects with Sims more than you can imagine. That's interesting.

SimFans.de Info (Translated):

01. Sims' favorite colors don't really play much of a role other than that Sims like to talk about them. There will be a total of 20 different colors to choose from.
02. When Sims are obese, the patterns and colors are stretched but the quality is still very good.
03. The following foods are: waffles, toast, cakes, fruit jelly, autumn salad, cheese steak, dim sum, fish and chips, grilled cheese, grilled salmon, hamburgers, hot dogs, Lobster, Mac and Cheese, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, Goopy Carbonara, Ratatoullie, spaghetti, steak, sushi, Schuhsole, cookies, lemon cake.
04. The shrinkage of the bathing water and cooking of meals is much more fluid and thus more realistic than in The Sims 2.
05. You can rent community lots to host parties, so long as the community lots are open and not rabbit holes. So far, the only parties available to throw are birthdays and regular parties.
06. Ghosts have no access to CAS, so I assume that must mean they stay with the same clothes and looks for their entire ghosthood.
07. The only confirmed cheat so far is "motherlode."
08. You can save your game anywhere your Sim is at, including when it is visiting a neighbor.

09. Life span options: 25 days, 50 days, 90 days, 190 days and 970 days.10. The neighborhood's name cannot be changed.
11. The clock on the town hall building functions according to the in-game time.
12. Apparently not all community lots are open 24 hours a day, at least not the rabbit holes. The bistro for example is only opened from 11am to 11pm. he theatre only opens for whatever the times of each show start.
13. So far, the only animals are birds (only as a town animated decoration), various species of fish and whatever "Schmetterline" means. There are of course insects which are only collectable.
14. At night, you can see the lights on from rabbit holes and possibly see the very front of the inside, but not much.
15. Children go to school from 9am to 3pm while teens from 9am to 2pm. They can also stay later if you choose to for improvement, sleep in school, receive detention, etc.
16. While we cannot move objects in use by the Sim, we can indeed recolor/repattern them while in use by the Sim.
17. There are two different bikes.
18. Many of the baby objects are the same but there is a new crib.

SimPlaza.de Info (Translated):

01. Updates and patches will be automatic from the launcher and of course you need Internet connection in order to have the launcher fully functionable, other than to play the game, which obviously you don't.
02. Saved games are still possible of course so that may be the only way to have a different town name since saved games are basically copies of the original town.
03. The bulldozing tool is still available... obviously.
04. A clipboard tool is available for placing Sims on it as a way to hold them and place them to other homes later on, probably like the family bin.
05. There is no loading screen at all to switch between families. You just have to go to the neighborhood view to do so. Everything seems to be so instant.
06. There will be smoke coming out of chimneys, waves, fog, and even hot air balloons and airplanes across the shy, etc.
07. Your Sim can only walk so far until you may need to use the neighborhood view to continue the destination.
08. As long as there is no fence around the lot, all yard objects of neighbors' homes are usable, however, the neighbors can be displeased if they don't know you well enough.
09. Apparently not only do the actions of the pregnant Sim determines the baby's traits/personality, but also the sex. Cool!
10. You can have up to triplets, but no quadruplets or more.
11. The fourth game speed is basically skipping the process of whatever your Sims are doing. So if they are sleeping, the fourth game speed will skip all of that.
12. Needs go from the colors black which indicates unimportance, then yellow, then red which means it needs attention.
13. A backpack (not sure if an icon or an actual object) indicates the Sim's personal inventory.
14. Some interactions have short and extended versions, such as sleep until it'a time to go to work or sleep until fully rested, etc.
15. There is a destination menu that tells your Sim that it can walk, run, cycle, etc., to wherever.
16. Actions can have a progress meter indicating when it will be finished, however, things like watching TV and playing games do not.
17. In Buy Mode (maybe even in Build Mode) no longer do you need to navigate through pages of items, as we just now scroll through one page that shows everything of that category.
18. Computers can now be placed on tables, but they will be centered, and the chairs to go with them will be centered, too.
19. When calls placed in silent mode, a pop-up will appear showing you the caller. Home phones are no longer necessary since Sims all have cell phones.

SimPlaza's SimForum Info (Translated):

01. Again, no gradruplets.
02. Sims will walk over smaller objects in their way.
03. A freeform camera is still available (TAB key).
04. No photo album or story mode but photos can be managed via the launcher.
05. Furnished homes only contain the necessary minimum.
06. Sims can get very romantic, longing for just a kiss when their loved one comes home from work.
07. Service NPC's do not have buildings to come from, so no fire station, etc. They just appear and disappear.
08. When a burglar is caught, it can attract the neighborhood's attention.
09. When a house is being played on its own with story progression on, furniture will be generated when a baby is born or turns into a child, etc. It will also add to the value of the lot.
10. Makeup and accessories can be matched with specific clothing categories.
11. The "maxmotives" cheat will not be in the game.

Sims-3.net Info (Translated):

01. Teens and younger cannot live alone like in Sims 2.
02. What pregnant Sims eat can also determine the baby's upbringing.

SimTimes.de Info (Translated):

01. Pregnant Sims cannot be created in CAS.
02. Apparently there are more hairstyles than in the Sims 2 base game.
03. Hat hairstyles will still retain the hairstyle they come with when the hat is off.
04. There is an Asian option somewhere in the sliders in CAS as far as facial details.
05. Facial details will also match whatever body size you selected.
06. Wrinkles start from the adult age.
07. The undies clothing category has still been removed.
08. Apparently it is true that each clothing category has tops, bottoms and whole outfits as well as shoes, and not just for everyday clothing.
09. There is an option to show only downloads in CAS (meaning CC?).
10. Even the actual buttons of a jacket are recolorable.
11. Yes, favorite color serves are merely just a topic of conversation while you do get mood boosts from favorite food and music.
12. Apparently you can't see Sims from far away or from the other side of town and you can't even see the full interior of homes until you visit them, which makes sense because otherwise there would be major lag. So it would be similar to apartments, hotels and dorms in Sims 2.
13. The gym is free, no fees.
14. It can take a little longer to save your game at times.
15. There are still carpools.
16. The needs decay the same speed as in Sims 2.
17. There is a skill journal that goes into detail on the progress of the skills, what you've learned from them and how many shows you've performed or books you've written and where they took place and how much money you've earned from them, etc.
18. Babies are still in blankets revealing only their heads when carried, however, in cribs they seem to be able to move around their arms and legs.
19. You can still choose the baby's name, just that it gets automatically chosen when you are not playing the family.
20. Deaths are not as easy to occur, so for a Sim to drown, it must be very tired and hungry, with or without the pool ladder. And house fires start off as small doing little damage and then can become larger.
21. Ghosts can move furniture and go through walls.
22. It seems as if cheating is the only way to a divorce, but not sure.
23. There is no monthly indicator, instead, it will be like "week 3, day 1" or "week 4, day 2," etc.
24. The refridgerator must remain refilled and the remains can be set aside. Whatever that means.

Source: http://translate.google.com/transla...&history_state0=

SimsExchange.de Info (Translated):

01. Now it says that favorite color can function as a mood boost. Hmmm...
02. You can choose the way a ghost is in your Sim's house, then you can either throw out all the ghosts or end their friendship.
03. You can find things in trash cans.
04. Fathers are likely to run to wherever the mother-to-be gives birth, even when they are at work.

I'm pretty sure 'schmetterline' is supposed to mean 'butterfly'.

I can already tell I'm going to need a mod that'll change Sims' names. My God, what if they name a child something awful? Yet at the same time, the spontaneity will be fun, I think. (I hope)

Anyway, thanks for the new info! I enjoyed it.

Thanks for transplanting all the information.

Speaking of mods. I think someone should alter an object, possibly a recliner, to zap out the personalities of sims so you can reprogram them. A la 'Dollhouse'.

"Hello Echo."
"Did I fall asleep?"
"Just a little while."

Offtopic: oh dear goodness me. i am too obsessed with everything joss whedon. i think it might be an mental or emotional deformity on my part.

Not much here i didnt know.

Accept the food choices which i really like. And the ability to use your neighbours stuff and then getting angry is cool. I also like that your children can make their way to skool even if they miss the bus, and then even leave late.

Putting computers on table is also a fun new option.

Also glad to see that leftovers can go back in the fridge.

I like how sims are very romantic and want to kiss their spouse when he or she comes home from work.

06. Sims can get very romantic, longing for just a kiss when their loved one comes home from work.

YES!! I always hated it when the kid would stop whatever they were doing (usually homework) to go greet the parent. The wish to kiss their spouse when they get home from work is so cute though, at least it's something we'll have control over.

And yes, 'schmetterline' means butterfly. Lol, it's the one German word I know!

I love that we can make the kids stay at school longer! I'm thinking that sims with something like a "Nerd" trait would love this, and that will make it easier to carry out a "bad/misunderstood teen" who always gets into trouble and has to stay for detention. Lol, it will also be helpful if I ever forget to have childcare for a child who would then be home alone.

Oh I've done that. Parent went to work. Kids came home.. Moments later the social worker came and stole em all.

I found that the cutest thing. Did pets ever do this, i got Pets on PS2 and it was so cute when your sim got home from work and the dog would come running to give the sim a hug.

Thanks for translating. Here's my opinion:

09. When a house is being played on its own with story progression on, furniture will be generated when a baby is born or turns into a child, etc. It will also add to the value of the lot.

The game can add and arrange the furniture automatically? Including all the decoration too? Or It's already build from the start like apartment life?

03. Hat hairstyles will still retain the hairstyle they come with when the hat is off.

It means that in some hairstyle, we can add hat for it. So the 22 hairstyle for female is full of 22 blank hairstyle and you can add hat later. That's improvement.

08. Apparently it is true that each clothing category has tops, bottoms and whole outfits as well as shoes, and not just for everyday clothing.
10. Even the actual buttons of a jacket are recolorable.

That's a great feature. About the jacket, will it be applied to all cloth or just specific cloth?

12. Apparently you can't see Sims from far away or from the other side of town and you can't even see the full interior of homes until you visit them, which makes sense because otherwise there would be major lag. So it would be similar to apartments, hotels and dorms in Sims 2.

Sadly we can't spy on our neighbor house. But my computer is not fast either.

16. The needs decay the same speed as in Sims 2.

This is a bad news. If like TS2 Freetime with all need-reduction-decay (I forget the feature name), I can still accepted.

23. There is no monthly indicator, instead, it will be like "week 3, day 1" or "week 4, day 2," etc.

Which mean it's impossible to have a holiday celebration every year. Like X-mas, New Year, etc.

19. You can still choose the baby's name, just that it gets automatically chosen when you are not playing the family.

Can we rename again the name, if the game give a bad name?

The game actually has the ability to expand the house as new space/objects are needed. It can tell the difference between different types of rooms so that if they need for example a better stove you wont find that they have placed it in the bathroom. I would guess that they could also decorate accordingly

Each object and piece of clothing has set areas for each colour to be placed. If you see how CASt works you select four colours/patterns and then they are applied to whatever you are styling. The four regions which these colour are set and unchangeable. It just so happens that for a certain jacket one of those is the buttons.

23. There is no monthly indicator, instead, it will be like "week 3, day 1" or "week 4, day 2," etc.

Which mean it's impossible to have a holiday celebration every year. Like X-mas, New Year, etc.

It would be nice to have days and months. However if they were to incorporate this they are creating a real time frame. This would mean that the amount of days a sim spends in each life stage is essentially going to be changed into years. However if they make years short to counter this, then you are essentially going to have christmas once every 5 days or so.

19. You can still choose the baby's name, just that it gets automatically chosen when you are not playing the family.

Can we rename again the name, if the game give a bad name?

Well what you could do is when you know a sims birth is comming up you begin controlling that family. Or you could save often and if the name is bad then you load back and play through the birth and give the name yourself. And well the third option is to just turn story progression off and the birth wont take place until you are ready.
