Post Lots of new info from the players in London today
One of them by the way said the game went gold last Friday. It will be announced today at EA's earnings meeting.

This is from sims2community.com.
New Info From London/Manchester Hands-on Event

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Judhudson created yet another one of his famous collection info threads on separate events. This one is about the London/Manchester event where he will collect all the posted articles there. I listed whatever new info was mentioned. It's a lot of reading, so enjoy!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunset Valley News Info:

01. Families may be able to go on a bike ride together.
02. When a Sim needs to go somewhere, a pop-up will apper asking you what type of transportation would you prefer: car, bike, walk, run.
03. When Sims converse about a specific topic, one of them can think about something totally unrelated (I'm guessing for absent-minded Sims).
04. Bikes can be ridden on the road, so they are treated as cars in a sense, because you can't go on the sidewalk or on the grass, etc.
05. Sims may be able to give other Sims birthday gifts.
06. Garages still exist but are not required since cars can be placed anywhere on the lot.
07. Guitars are the only musical instrument at this time.
08. Male Sims can stay in the hospital with the expecting mother during labor and a queue icon above will read "Stays with mother."
09. When choosing your baby's name, the gender no longer shows like in Sims 2 so you have to read carefully. However, you'll know the gender when the Sims leave the hospital since babies are now wrapped in blankets with pink for girls and blue for boys. However, it doesn't matter anyway since we can now change their names via the town hall building.
10. When the baby is born, you also give it one trait.
11. Sims can now recognize career rank, thus why famous Sims are able to be cheered by fans.

EA UK Forum "Play Sims 3" Thread Info:

01. The "MaxMotives" and "Motivedecay" Sims 2 cheats don't work because the needs decrease very slowly now to where a Sim may only have to use the toilet once a day.
02. Buy/Build Modes are a lot more user-friendly.
03. In TS3 when naming your newborn, there is a long paragraph that tells you the gender of the baby and then a box underneath in which to name the baby. Just that there is no symbol as to which gender the baby was, so you have to read carefully.
04. No hot tubs as of yet.
05. The waterfalls actually roar when zooming in.
06. You choose one trait for the newborn baby while the other one gets randomly selected.
07. The guitar in the game is an acoustic one.
08. There will be indie music. Apparently more stations have been added since months ago when there were only a few listed at the time.
09. Custom music can be a favorite.
10. Evil Sims interact with certain objects such as "Wash hands with evil soap," "Evil slumber," "evil bath" and "evil shower."
11. You can use kitchen corners to cook.
12. Sims can reject woohoo for more realistic reasons such as hunger or low hygiene.
13. You can choose to create young adults, palettes for eyeshadow and eyeliner, multi-coloured blushes, glossy lipsticks, matt lipsticks etc, lots of accesories that can be overlayed well. Legwarmers and also barefeet.
14. Evil Sims have a mirror option to "practice world domination speech."
15. The traits are divided into 5 categories: mental, physical, social, lifestyle, all.
16. The new family portrait after you create your sims show the room that they're in with a grey background and they appear so far away and small in the image as if you could fit many many more Sims.
17. At night, the stars move.
18. A Sim will walk to another lot rather than by car or bike if the lot is close enough.
19. You can hire venues for parties for a fee.
20. There will be a multi-colored blush for makeup.
21. In the hair section, the angle is on the side of the face for a more accurate view.
22. There will be high heels.
23. No "Familyfunds" cheat available.
24. No auto-load when you place a family into a home for the first time like in Sims 2.
25. When you move to a different home, you can do it via the computer. That gives you options on who will move with you, and if you will take the furniture with you or not.
26. One of the surprises happened when the person I watched entered their home for the first time and found out that her home was on an ancient burial groud, and she was asked whether she wanted to immediately get rid of the ghosts, or if she wanted to manage it. She said yes, so the lot had several ghosts in it. Later, the Repoman appeared and offered to get rid of the ghosts for her, and as she was getting bored of them she said yes. Ghostbuster Repoman to the rescue!
27. Sims can use corner counters.
28. If you have no car but still have a drive way and a place to park, the welcome wagon arrives in a car.
29. Flamingos can be included in CAST, so we saw red flamingos.
30. The most expensive car was 105,000 simoleons.
31. There’s an option to sit on the edge of fountains.
32. Tables and chairs are automatically locked together, so when you move the table the chairs come with it. Likewise, when you delete/sold the table, the chairs are deleted/sold too.
33. There’s an extra-long dining table.
34. Deja-vu furniture! There were several Sims 2 style furnishings that had been updated for the Sims 3.
35. You can Engrave Epitaph on the graves, which allows you to write a short message.
36. Video games within the game include NFL, Skate, and Need for Speed.
37. You can learn about Sims when you chat with them, e.g. traits, money level, careers, whether they are single, in a relationship, engaged, or married, etc.
38. You can hold a baby and talk to others.
39. There’s a food called Goopy Carbonara. Yes, you get to eat Goopy.
40. You can tell your Sims to automatically invite someone over by clicking their picture in the Relationships section.
41. 3 volumes for Stereo – Low, Medium, or High.
42. You can watch TV in High Definition.
43. Computers go in the middle of desks.
44. You can actually see the gossip! For example, when two of my Sims gossiped, pop-up came up saying “People are saying Tori Kinura is actually an alien, living undercover in our neighbourhood!”.
45. When your Sims move to a new home, they can ‘Enthuse about New Home’ to other Sims.
46. Each bookshelf has different books on it, and you can choose which ones to read. Books include the following – ‘The Crumplebootom Legacy: A Tale’, ‘Demand Excellance or You’ll get Mediocrity’, ‘Zombies? Zombies!’ and ‘The Noble History of Socks’. There’s also a number of baby/pregnancy related books for expecting mothers to read.
47. Teens can hang out on playground equipment.
48. Sims can get an ‘Unfinished Room’ moodlet if the room they’re in isn’t wallpapered and/or floored.
49. The paper is delivered by children, and there’s a different one each day.
50. When you get a job, they tell you the name of your boss so you can go and schmooze them to your heart’s content.
51. Advanced warning if kids/teens will bring home a friend.
52. Teens and children have a curfew to be home by.
53. Raising your skill levels can give you advantages, i.e. if you increase your athletics skill, you get the option to ‘Work Out Without Making A Sweat’, meaning your Sims won’t get smelly.
54. When you read the newspaper, pop-ups appear tell you what’s happened in the news.
55. A townie gave birth to a baby girl called Tawanna.
56. Buyable décor includes a giant MilitaryGuardTower.
57. Teens don’t have Lifetime Wishes until they grow up.
58. If your teens and children do really well at school and end up on the honours list, you may be able to choose their new triat when they grow up. The better you do in school, the better the trait will be if you can’t choose.
59. Criminal career’s workplace is the ‘Outstanding Citizan Warehouse Corp’.
60. Examples of Lifetime Wishes: Surrounded by Family (raise 5 children from baby to teen), Have a PerfectGarden (Grow 8 Plants/Fruit), and Lap of Luxury (100,000 simoleons).
61. You can admire yourself in the mirror if you are a snob and brag about fishing accomplishments if you catch good fish.
62. You can be able to ‘Talk about Self’ and ‘Talk about Possessions’. You can be able to learn athletic Skill faster if you are athletic and have the option to ‘Imply Your Mom’s A Llama’ if you are hot-headed.
63. Flirty Sims can ‘Confess Attraction’, ‘Give Marvelous Massage’, ‘Use Pick-up Line’, and several others. Artistic Sims can ‘Talk about Art’, as well ‘Go to Art Gallery’.
64. Examples of Opportunities for Sims: One Sim had to go straight from his work at the Outstanding Citizan Warehouse Corp in order to deliver a package to City Hall. Another Sim got school credit and cash for fixing the school’s boiler after school, and was later asked to catch a fish and deliver it to the Landgrabb Science Faculty for an experiment. And another Sim had to read ‘Demand Excellance or You’ll get Mediocrity’ for school credit, and later got the opportunity to work for DooPeasCorperateTower for school credit and cash.
65. Lettuce seeds, grape seeds, and apple seeds exist and can be grown into plants.
66. Some Sims may not stop making out until you force them to.
67. Ghosts can attack/fight with Sims and thus why there are ghost busters in the game.

EA UK Forum "Back Playing Sims 3" Thread Info:

01. CAS is so easy and accessable that you can make an attractive Sim in 10 minutes.
02. It's mentioned to not have pets but I'm sure they meant like cats and dogs because fish can still be turned into pets when caught.
03. There's a lack of formal wear for females.
04. Laptops are still in the game and since it was mentioned to be plural, it must mean that we are getting multiple choices.
05. Some of the Newbie family members may be in the game.
06. Possibly no wedding arches or wedding dresses.
07. You couldn't ask an NPC to move in.
08. Customization is free (probably meaning no design tool that costs $15).
09. Interactions have improved, but have shorterned. There was less options, (like, play, admire, etc) But more options for other things (Like it went Romantic --> Whisper in ear, or shy kiss, things like that.
10. Woohoo is the same except no cinematic and there are rose petals that fall instead of fireworks.
11. The only clothing options are: Everyday, Formal, Nighwear, Swimwear, and Fitness.
12. With skill building, you either have to cook or play the guitar to get skills or take classes at certain places in the town (possibly meaning no more studying for skills in the bookcase).
13. Pregnancy now lasts 6 days (this is an annoying back-and-forth deal between 3 and 6 days).
14. No cinematics for any event.
15. Apparently your Sim's favorite music cannot be metal or rock.
16. Swimwear selection is a lot more decent than in Sims 2.
17. Sims still take ages to get around people.
18. In the friendship pannel, if you click on a Sim's image, you can call or invite them over, as long as they don't live with you.
19. Sims express themselves differently depending on their traits such as an athletic Sim flexing his pecs to impress other Sims or a charasmatic Sim giving the two-finger gun point expression to other Sims, etc.
20. There will be mini tutorials of each aspect of the game.

Source: http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/...g-sims-3-a.html

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many people weren't able to play the game after attending the event because not all of the computers were working and there wasn't enough time for everyone and so they attended for nothing. Some people only got one hour of play rather than the two they were supposed to have. Apparently nothing was done about it and they were left extremely disappointed. There are plenty of complaints about it in the posted forum.

What?! No upright piano??! D:

I wasn't expecting the bikes to go anywhere off road, but I had hoped in vain that they could.

I wonder why they didn't bother with the symbols for a baby's sex or at least made it easier to know the baby's sex before naming them. It would have been so much easier. :/

These are great reviews though. There is some great stuff added, but there's also some personal drawbacks for me. I might wait until the first expansion.

This report is GREAT! Thank you so much!!! :smile2:

I just want to ask you: do the babies make facial expressions? Do they move at all?
And also, are the animations on Sims (like interacting with other Sims, with objects) the same as in TS2? And the sound you hear when clicking on an object; is it the same as in TS2?

Post Re: Lots of new info from the players in London today
i was wondering... do other AI controled families really do things other than wander around reading newspapers, gossiping and stuff? i mean, is it possible for an AI controlled sim to take typical human decisions like,to wishto have a relationship with a specific sim.. then marry her/him... how do they decide how many children they will have? or is there the possibilty a married sim would chose to cheat his wife? can sims take their children to walk around or go to the park? do they go togther to places or each sims just wander around alone?

anyway..despite my concerns its going to be awsome to play in a seamless neighbourhood....

sorry for my english..its not my native language

Thanks :)

And yeah, babies still animate and have facial animations. The only difference is that they're wrapped up in a blanket. I think it looks cuter and much more realistic. Some animations have been directly taken from The Sims 2 (which I was annoyed about at first) but you don't really notice it to be honest. The sound is the same, yeah.

I have now posted a Quick Info page and a Your Questions Answered page :)

one thing i´d like to know is...

how do sims behave at night? do most of them go home or they wander around town the same way the do during dayligh? do sims have a total messy day rotine?
do they sleep at night or do they sleep whenever they feel like?

it would be cool if nights had that lonely feeling and desert streets.... and you see people in their houses having dinner and such

Most of them appear to go home. When I was playing the game, I rarely saw Sims out and about a night. Although I didn't spend too much time looking, so I'm not 100% sure on that. And you can't see inside houses, other than wallpaper and flooring. You can see Sims inside, but not any objects. They only appear if you knock at the door and the Sim answers.

Chris, your report was by far the best out!!!

Thankx for answering my questions... though I am still a little confused on the graphics.
Because others have said there ARE graphic T shirts and I have seen them in screens and even in the new walpaper today.
And there was one screenshot of the same shirt with different graphics on it in the recolours too....

Wow, tons of awesome info. Did you by any chance check out some of the careers? I was just curious as to what some of the different "branches" were.

Wow Chris, that was fantastic, cheers :coolguy:

I'm reading through the quick facts and feel pretty chuffed about the duvet being solid and realistic and that your sims can nap on top of a made bed.

Yeah, bed fettish today apparently.

Hmm, well I couldn't find a way to add graphics to clothes. Maybe you can edit the colours of them though? I'm not entirely sure, I didn't spend too much time in CAS. If others have said you can, then I'd go with them :)

And thanks guys :)
