IceflowStudios's The Sims 3 Basement Tutorial
IceflowStudios went out of their way again and made another TS3 video, this time showing how to create basements. It is very similar to The Sims 2, actually identical. Still a nice tutorial tho

Thanks, Swat. For some reason, when recording on the Highest Quality setting (Uncompressed), The Sims speeds up the final output. I hope you all can still see what's going on.

its a lot easier to make a foundation the size you want the house to be. then hollow out the middle of it. only leave an outiside layer. and then use the landscape tools to make the basement.

^^^ I remember there being a negative to that in the Sims 2, can't remember what made it inferior though..

Re: IceflowStudios's The Sims 3 Basement Tutorial
I love the new stair tool. I think it's one of the best improvements ever. They're all flex-length which is AWESOME!
I always build a foundation, wallpaper it with a wall that has a floorboards, then I start the stairs at the top of the foundation and lower them until it reaches the floorboard. Then I use the level tool to flatten the basement to that level.
Oh, and I found that placing floor tiles can stretch if you place more floor tiles adjacent to them on a different elevation. That means the inside "frame" of the basement (the foundation with slanted ground under it) doesn't have to be all grassy and ugly.
