 Create-A-World discussion thread
EDIT2: Made the thread a discussion thread. EDIT: GET IT NOW! http://www.thesims3.com/game/tools/worldYes, EA have kept to their word and are finally working or at least sort-of releasing a tool to create a neighborhood or as EA call it, a 'world'. Quote: The word is out on the first EA Custom Content tool along the lines of “Create A World”. More details to come about custom neighborhoods! Off TS3Simposium. Images(click to enlarge):

 Re: Create-A-World coming soon!
Yay finally. Not exactly within the 3 months they promised, but at least we're getting one. Good to see it's not just a tool to edit the pre-existing neighborhoods, and we can actually make our own from scratch ...now the question is whether or not EA is going to charge for the download of the editor or not. Seeing their history with the Store, I wouldn't be that surprised if they did

Oh well that's neat. I don't know if l'll be using it much though, sunset and riverview are cooler than anything l could ever create.

I'm already picturing the exchange swamped with Desperate Housewives neighbourhoods.

 Re: Create-A-World coming soon!
Well it looks interesting. Much better than trying to use the tools of SC4.

This is what makes it all worthwhile. I cannot wait for this! I hope they make it as user friendly as the other Create-a-Tools!

 Re: Create-A-World coming soon!
Sweet, I'm looking forward to it! I'm still having fun with Riverview and Sunset Valley but I would like a new neighborhood to play in and I think it would be fun to create something completely unique!

A new picture showing how Al Simhara was made or meshed: And Little-V, listen to this: SimPrograms wrote: GameSpot has a short article with details on the upcoming tool. EA is giving us the same tool that they used to create Riverview with! It will be released as a beta this December at the official Sims 3 site – FOR FREE – and will clock in about 130MB. So yeah, it's free.

 Re: Create-A-World coming soon!
I always knew that it would be free. Dont see how much EA would expect to make of it anyways. Everyone would just pirate it anyways.
130mb is quite a reasonable size, there must be a whole heap of functionality than just sculpting some ground and laying roads. Of course there are the ground textures and everything. I guess it must be a standalone product then to be that size.

 Re: Create-A-World coming soon!
*Screams* It would be nice if the included some way to move all out townies from Sunset Valley into the new neighborhood though I suppose I could try making a secondary neighborhood, it didn't quite work out with Riverview for me :P Draik wrote: I'm already picturing the exchange swamped with Desperate Housewives neighbourhoods. and springfield neighborhoods.......and bad attempts at making the "lost" island. Edit: I just had another thought, it would be so cool if we could make adventure destinations with this and apply it to neighborhoods we already have.

 Re: Create-A-World coming soon!
And another thing is the fact that we can have a neighborhood with no roads at all, since we have ponds that are alone in SV, hidden lots(i.e the space station, simhenge, the mine, etc.) and so it's possible to create an island or peninsula-like neighborhood.

I would really love that! A roadless-island <3 It would take some time to get around, because sims would have to do everything on foot, but that's just cool! And the fact that you can decide what sort of jobs will be available is also pretty cool, so you can really build a small community. Love it!

 Re: Create-A-World coming soon!
Well, if this ends up not being too complex to use it could very well be what brings me into playing again. As it stands I haven't touched Sims 3 in weeks.

The new GameSpot article says it will be available to download from TheSims3.com in December and will be completely free.
