What, since when have the games been 2D? And what do you mean by flat?
I'm not a console game player, so I don't know how everything works, but I'm almost positive you can never change graphic options, correct?
Typically a console game with come with only a few graphics options those being brightness, contrast and screen position. Some game have more adjustments, but not like the PC where the graphics quality can be turned down. Console games are optimised to run on the specific hardware they were designed for, there is no need to be able to reduce graphics quality.
