Has anyone played the Movies? It's one of my favourite games and unfortunatly there is never going to be any more expansions after Stunts & Effects. Do you think EA could develop a Sims game based on a cross between The Movies and Sims 3, that would bring the best of both games together.

The Movies Game didn't sell enough, so I think EA could put it's expertise and Sims experience into it and make a game that already has an audience with the machinima crowd and Sims 3 players. I still think there is a huge audience out there for Movie type games it's just that with EA's marketing and development behind they could make an awesome game.

I still play the Movies even though it's 5 years old and I'm an avid Sims 3 player.

Come on EA step up to the plate for all us movie fans out there!

If Will Wright were still involved with the franchise, we probably would of had a "Movies" expansion by now. Years ago, Will Wright expressed interest in a Sims expansion that included movie-making abilities like cameras, rails for panning, and dolly's that your sims would control and make movies for you(you'd set up the shots, they'd interact them out). This was in Sims 1 days, so the limited tech wouldn't of allowed this type of gameplay, and the more Wright left the franchise, the less he had influence over what they made. But it would of been a really cool idea, especially for a SuperStar-like expansion.

It would be really fun to have Sims directing and filming little scenes your sims act out and depending on their skill they'd either be terrible or great! A bad director would have shaky shots, unfocused, etc. Bad actors would be well, bad. :ton: (how funny would that be to watch?!) Directors/actors would show up to an opening night at the Theater Rabbit hole for autograph signings(if they're popular enough) and your town gets to check out the flick you made(and if it's good, improves celebrity and popularity ratings for those sims involved). Apply a ranking to films the way Photography works, as well as a trait system that dictates how sims like different Genres - computer whiz loves sci fi, hopeless romantics love romance, new traits like "Scaredy cat" would hate horror films while evil sims love them.

Generation's gave us the ability to make home videos, so it's not like this is out of the realm of possibilities with a future SuperStar expansion(if they make one)!

BTW, I remember loving The Movies. Didn't get the expansion. The whole movie making was limited, but the tycoon/simulation of the game was really, really great.

I freaking LOVED the movies, and I had the expansion pack as well, but it kind of irked me that half the stuff in the expansion was from the store thing that you bought stuff in with virtual points. >:o

I agree with this, after I tried making a few movies a few times, i prefered doing the story mode version of the game. And those movie awards were awsome, but the only award i would ever win was the 'most prestigious lot' award. I went crazy with the decor. I sometimes wish i didn't sell that game.... I also loved the music!! :D.. I bet i could pick it up real cheap now..

I really wish Will wright made that movies thing, it would have been great. I really want to try out the generations camera... does it save the movies as well? or does it like,,, only save them within the game.. it would be great for machinima artists who want handheldesque shots.

I thought I was alone with playing Movies! It was really fun. I kind of wish it was like the Sims. I never brought the expansion pack to it.

Thank you stescouse for making this thread!

I remember seeing this game in stores like Walmart and Best Buy and I had NO CLUE what it was about lol. Until you started talking about it I decided to look at the trailers and gameplay and I think it looks awesome!

You guys really enjoy playing this game?? I should've discovered this a long time ago!! Oh well, maybe I can get it now for ten or twenty bucks since it's been five or six years since it was released

Edit

I just ordered mine online! I played the demo from Gamespot and had a lot of fun with it

Yeah it was awsome, sadly one of the best parts is sharing the movies online on their website... but they've taken that down now for lack of interest. I remember when movies were getting uploaded every hour. It was amazing! And you could review other peoples movies and stuff. So good! :D Looking back, I bet my movies would have been really stupid and awful. I wish i was older when that game was in its' prime.

I used to play the "movies" game allllll the time... even though the graphics were so/so it was an addictive game. Shame it didn't sell better. :/

They should do an expansion pack like this:

The Sims 3: Star Life
---
Features:
- Your sims can become; Actors, Singers, Dancers and Magicians
- Actors and Actresses can make movies in the new Simwood Productions where you can build up in rank, make movies and become world famous. There are two types of filming: Movie or TV Show. You can also build your own movie studio and become a movie studio tycoon if you purchase the studio. Random films are made now and then from sims in the studio and are featured in the cinemas at certain date, your film could be released in cinemas if it is good enough or it could be a STDVD (straight-to-dvd) release, after a movie had been released it will get reviewed by the critics first then the sims can review by either; going into the cinema and watch it, use laptop to give a review etc. TV shows are slightely different to movies because they require more regular shooting in a week, they get broadcasted live and sitcoms can be made and viewed on tv too. The tycoon part is not as expanded as The Movies, but you still get awards, prestige, ranks and management. Sets are created just like making a house but there are more and new options in the build and buy mode.
- Singers can record their music at the record labels, your sims can now sing and reach to the top. There are auditions around town where your sims can come up to competition with lots of other singers for a chance to win big prizes and fame.
- Dancers can show off their skills in competitions or down the streets where all the streetdancers come along.
- Magicians can show off their magic skills and impress many people in shows and events
----
New Skills -
- Acting
- Singing
- Dancing
- Magic
----
- New Calender
- New DVD system
- New Camera-set system
- Microphone
- DJ Booth
---
Buy Mode
- New Sections: Props, Magic and Effects
----
Build Mode
- New Tools: Set tool, Camera set tool, Debri, Stunts

--------------------

I can't think of anymore too add but they are probably some more.

If this expansion did come in mind then it would be adding: The Sims 1 Magic + Superstar into one pack, singing and acting featured in Superstar but dancing is new.
