 Backing up your game?

Post Backing up your game?
I am pondering on uninstalling this game and installing it to another drive on my computer. And I was wondering if there was any proper way of backing up all of my saves, downloads, mods, etc. I want to make sure I have everything.

Copy The Sims 3 folder in my Documents and you're good to go.

Really? Just copy and compress the entire folder? Whenever I make backups, I usually put them into a .rar file.
