So now we're pretty sure that all our sims 3 failure are because of Grant Rodiek. Well.. I'm not too sure.. it seems like he did some neat things but someone else wanted to take the game in a different direction. I personally don't like the opportunities that much. I like how TS1 and TS2 were.. if they kept to their strengths and didn't get super greedy then the game would be better off.

I think opportunities (outside work) sucks. I get called 3-4 times a day with 3 sims each and they are always say "wanna go get a drink here?". Everytime I click no, but still they call me.
I don't want to disable them (I know you can do that in the settings, but I never tried) but I'm not sure how that will affect my game. Will I miss career opportunities and statue opportunities? If so, it's not worth it IMO. I also preferred the Sims 2 style (minus the aging + closed NH) but I think the graphics almost got worse in Sims 3. Everything looks like clay to me.
And then we got the glitches haunting my game, I had no glitches in Sims 2 and especially not in Sims 1... I really hope EA starts making high quality, well tested EP's from now on.

Opening up to the community and actually asking them what they want in an EP would work perfectly. I know that they kind of did it here with the bunk beds and the see saws, but remember the old polls they used to put up on the TS2 website? Something like that would work a lot better than just glancing at the BBS and picking a couple of things at random.

I can imagine what they are like at the EA HQ right now
Spoiler:
EA employee: Ok guys, I filled this bulletin with ideas I could think of. First we got patches to fix Late Night and the digging sites in W- EA boss: Yeah yeah, but what you got for expansion packs? We need a quick buck EA employee: Well...I got this thing I call Generations. It's basically live living large, lots of small changes to make the game overall more fun. I suggest we add pets, people really w- EA boss: Yeah whatever, but like, how much work do we have to put down to get this EP done? EA employee: I don't think a lot, it seems kind of simp- EA boss: Great! Quick cash, I like that. What is that critter thing going to be? EA employee: Creature, not critter and I thought the Wanshang dhole would be a nice addition. It allows people to turn into animals so they can interact with their pets and- EA boss: Sounds boring to me, too hard to pronounce too. We should add imaginary friends. I had one of those when I was young EA employee: Uh, sounds cool. What can they do? Travel to another world? Harass sims that mess with you? EA boss: Well, I thought they could dress like a clown and look like a robot doll and walk really strange. It needs a light bulb too. EA employee: Uh...whatever, I still get paid right? EA boss: Sure. We can put your pet critter in the next EP. Minus that mole thing
In short: how come they don't ask us what we want in a poll or something and instead seemingly choose EPs at random? Releasing a holiday EP as the first EP is just dumb imo. It adds 0 to the real game (except martial arts, nectar makery and photography) instead Generations should have been the first, then Ambitions and then maybe Late Night. Generations should not have been 4th
I'm curious to see what Generations will be like, I certainly like everything I've heard so far, but I'm afraid it's not enough... they should include a new neighborhood, for example, and I haven't heard a whole lot about new Build mode features. I really think they should add more Build features, it's time they come up with a U- and L-shaped stairs mode, I don't care how, but this is something builders have wanted a long time, and fumbling with cheats works, but not great...
What I would absolutely love is if EA would make a new expansion pack and incorporate a lot of wishes the community has. Not just say 'we read the forums and we listen', but actually actively open a 'think along with us'-forum or use polls or something. I know not every idea is possible, but I think a lot of very basic ideas have been ignored, even though a lot of players would favor them. I personally like EPs that just add to the existing game in all modes, so a Vacation-type EP isn't my style; I want my sims to have a richer home life. That's why Generations sounds better to me, but I think it's strange that we still don't have weather. That could add so much gameplay to the day-to-day life of Sims. It would me amazing.
But I'll definitely check out Generations! My sims have been craving memories for a long time!

I agree, and I really don't see why they focus so much on new lots, holiday resorts etc when they instead can focus on things in your actual HOUSE.
Like right now, we haven't got memories. That should have been base game material right there. Instead we are getting it in the FOURTH EP.
I feel like family EPs like these will have fewer bugs too, since everything is more "connected".
Can barely wait until tomorrow :) Then we might hear something about Imaginary friends

That Imaginary Friend is certainly creepy. I don't play with creatures anyway, though so that wouldn't bother me.
What still bothers me is how it is mostly just a Stuff Pack. It's very reminiscent of the early The Sims EPs before they really knew what they were doing. At least those only cost $30.

Go watch "Foster's home for imaginary friends". I think it should be like that. You should be able to choose 100% what it looks like.
EA, you suck! I swear I'm.... *goes insane*

Agreed, this ep is 40 dollars, and it certainly doesn't live up to the 30 dollars paid for so many of the sims 2 eps.
There are a lot of objects in this ep, but I still feel like there should be more. I 100 percent wish they would have replaced the 30,000 pranks available in the game with new sports equipment or something :'[ Like a baseball diamond, bowling, roller rink, soccer, basketball, volleyball from sims 1 vacation <3. I would actually use these things.

Well, I also feel there should be more. Since there are no REALLY big features like vacation places, lots of jobs. There appears to be very few skills as well

Exactly how I feel, except I would have rather had an instrument that kids can play and University. However, sports certainly would have been interesting and they would have fit in with the theme as well.
That's the problem, though... There's not enough. What this EP adds IS good and is actually stuff I would use, but I just can't see it as being worth $39.99. I also can't help but feel disappointed that those two things I mentioned above weren't touched on. If they weren't here, where the theme was perfect, I'm afraid that's it for them.

Even if they left out university, they could have at least opened up a rabbit hole, or done the sports/children playing instruments. That would have made this ep awesome. I do think though, that with there being an open neighborhood, it would make a University ep so much more fun than it was in sims 2. So hopefully they still add sports/children playing instruments/uni. As well as the obvious of pets and seasons. That would be nice.

parentless, because sims can have romantic relations with there imaginary friend, and being someones parent and lover doesn't make much sense. Plus, they are imaginary friends, not imaginary sons/daughters.

Awwh I actually love the look of the imaginary friend!! It's like a ragdoll! I actually expected it to look just like a normal sim to be honest, so this is actually a pleasant surprise that it has something different about it. I want to see this animation of it walking!!!
