 Install Question / Patches
Hey everyone,
I just received my copy of generations today and I can't wait to install it; however being that I just got the Sims 3 deluxe not even two weeks ago, I haven't had time to just enjoy the game I have. With that said, I want to install generations before I begin exploring raising kids and the whole experience of the Sims 3 though I'm worried about he patch issues. I also have ODL and HEL stuff to install but since news of the issue with the patch I didn't want to do it...
I see that they still not have added a patch for the PC version yet; so I'm wondering am I safe to install generations and not worry about the launcher auto updating me the corrupted patch or have they disabled that for now untill they release the proper patch?
Thanks! I'm hoping that it's the latter and I can play this tonight when I get out of work. I'm kinda stuck because with the progressive nature of the game I have to start having kids with my sim families I created (and get married, that bug is SO annoying; as I don't have the option to date although story progression took care of that for me as soon as I moved in my sims girlfriend into his house manually). Nonetheless they can't get married and I'm hoping the patch they release will address this...
One last thing guys: Do we know yet if the patch corrected the issue with LN and everyone becoming a vampire/celebrity? I *REALLY* Want late night. I've wanted it since the first pictures came out of it, LOL!
Sorry for all the questions and I hope this was okay to post in this forum. Since I'm so new, I don't know all the in and outs of what's going on like I did during the Sims 2. I spent half my life in Pleasantview LMAO!

 Re: Install Question / Patches
About patch, Sims3launcher isn't able to check for updates, patch 1.22 fix it and Sims3launcher will be able to download patch 2.17/3.13/4.10/5.8/6.5/7.3/8.1. http://www.sims3cri.com/en/patch/856-pa ... nload.html

 Re: Install Question / Patches
I've just installed all the patches manually (I installed the one to version 1.22 before, but the patches for the other EPs and SPs didn't show up in the launcher either, so I figured I should install those manually as well), but I can't seem to find the one for Gen to version 8.1. I don't know if it matters, the game runs fine, but I saw that patch being mentioned, so I was curious if someone could post a link to it.

EADM upgraded to Origin and that is version 8.1 now So that's probably what people meant when they talked about upgrading to 8.1

 Re: Install Question / Patches
I would try the game out after each stuff pack is installed and back up if there are no issues. Then i would install generations. Never forget the importance of a back up!

 Re: Install Question / Patches
Thanks Nancy. There's been so many problems that I'm just weary of having to uninstall back up and all of that mess 2 weeks after getting the game. I just wanna play! LMAO! If this had been a different EP that came out so soon after I bought the game finally I''d just play the game but since it was all about "Generations" I figured I'd wait to explore the raising kids in the Sims 3. I'm gonna play for a while this morning then back up and install and hope it's good to go.
By the by? Anyone know why a new lot and house by the bay in Sunset Valley is not giving my family the beautiful vista moodlet? This house is designed specifically to be that type of house. I LOVE IT, however they dont get the moodlet, annoying. I know, OT. lol
