 Relationship Problems
I got my game today. Along with it, my game updated itself (I can't remember if it was a patch or just a regular game update). Unfortunately, it messed up my sims' relationships. Each time I open up the game, I'm not friends with anyone, not even my own fiance. By the time I built up new relationships and then exited the game, it happens again (no friends). What's worse is, I cannot seem to ask my sims' love interest to be her boyfriend. The dating system is alright, but I cannot seem to get further than love interest relationship. I'm guessing you'd have to go on a lot of dates to ask them to be their girl/boyfriends (or go steady). Also, when I decided to go ahead and try for a baby, I exited the game, and went back in, and my sim's boyfriend is a stranger to her while she is pregnant. Does anybody else have this problem?

 Re: Relationship Problems
I'm a new member here as of right now because I wanted to ask about this very same thing! I've been coming to Snooty's for YEARS. Been also playing the Sims since the first one came out and bought everything ever released with the exception of the Sims 3 stuff.
I just got the Sims 3 Deluxe this past week; the new computer and game was my own graduation present to myself.
I haven't been playing long so i didn't know what the deal was, but I installed Ambitions like the day after I installed the base game so I don't know if it was a patch or what but I can't ever seem to get the option "Go Steady" either and can't get passed Romantic Interest. I did some research and then found that some Sims are incompatible? So I straight deleted the pregnant sim I was trying to marry off to my other sim through edit town and made a sim that would be compatible; however, on the second go around and three sim weeks of trying I can't seem to get the option. I did marry another couple but they started off engaged through CAS.
It's annoying. I joined today to ask this question but you are asking after installing Generations so I'm wondering if it's the update itself, the patch that is causing this? I Didn't know better because the game is all new to me.
Some of the LN features that were added in the last patch don't work, like curved fountains and pools. You can't rotate them so you can't do anything with them.
So I've been waiting on Generations before I try out kids for the first time. I figure why not if theres a bunch of new gameplay enhancing stuff. I didn't even get LN yet because I was hoping they'd fix the problem of everyone becoming a celebrity/vampire with time.
Sorry for the long post guys! Nice to be a part of the community after all these years :)

 Re: Relationship Problems
Hey Guys. Theres probably two things you can do. The first one is for chippy, because I doubt Conclue has any mods. Look, a lot of mods break updates and stuff. You may want to check through them if you have any. It's important to sift through them. Okay, then for the both of you, but more for Conclue. Welcome to the community! The Sims 3 Updates are kind of broken.. and EA hasn't found a way to really fix it. For your problems, you may seemingly be updated, but not really updated. You may have to update different packs. Here's how you can check. I know it's tedious, but just download and extract this tool from ModTheSims, here: http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=409829What the tool will do is check to see what and if you have updates to games. It will also download and install them. I can't guarentee this is your problem, but it's a common one.

 Re: Relationship Problems
Hey Swat. I'll check my mods, but this problem didn't really occur until I updated the game/downloaded the patch :( I strongly think it's the patch because I had no problem before I even played Generations. Conclue - Congrats to the forum! I'm sorry we're having the same problem, I really do think it's the patch because I've NEVER had a single problem with any of the Sims 3 games even when I download a bunch of mods (trust me I have a TON!). I didn't have a problem with the relationship thing before either, so I don't know if it is actually Generations itself with it's new dating system. However I will say this: I couldn't really ask a sim out on a date unless she/he was given flowers. I don't know if this is the way it's supposed to work or just a glitch...? I hope the Sims 3 team will fix the patch or upload a completely new patch. Gosh I really hope that we are not the only ones having problems. I cannot fully enjoy Generations if I can't even get married. I think there is a way to uninstall the patch though..from the Control Panel. I'm going to check, and see if it improves the game.

 Re: Relationship Problems *FIXED*....Maybe
Hey Swat, I thought about what you said about updating my Mods. Instead of going through every mod that I had, I just copied and pasted all of my mod downloads into a new folder to the desktop, and then deleted the mods from my game. It seems to be working now!! (Whew!) I only exited out the game once, so I'm going to continue to play it through to make sure the problem that I had were fixed. Surprisingly, my game loaded up pretty quick without the mods lol. Oh well, I can play without them for now, and only use those for movie-making when I need them. Thanks for your tip! It led me to this

 Re: Relationship Problems
I'm glad you found a temporary "solution". It sucks, because yeah, you did just loose all your content. That's what I hate about mods. And updates. Just not good chemistry. Removing them isn't the complete solution, but in a way, it is. It's like a heart transfusion. You can get a new heart, and that's allowed, but your body (the game) may not take it well at times. And then you die if that persists! Terrible, but true.
But anyway, I always dread updates for that reason. Personally, my game is at it's absolute best right now. Persistant gameplay, little to no bugs that havn't happened. And I like my mods! I just have a lot, and it's going to be dreadful going through them. Expecially because I have a good bit of them merged into huge .packages instead of seperated... go me?

 Re: Relationship Problems
Yeah, it's very unfortunate that I had to remove all of my mods Well, at least I have it saved somewhere else and I could always go through them another time and figure out which ones have been updated from the Mod the Sims site, and then I could download the updated versions. Oh well...now the waiting game begins for all the mods to be updated. In the meantime, I still think that EA should release a more workable patch soon...

I use Process Monitor to fish out buggy mods... although it's 50% effective in detection.

After playing it for hours today, I only experienced a few minor glitches, but it wiped out my main biggest glitch thankfully. I might use Process Monitor - thanks for the tip!

This is very much off topic but is there any mod like that where I can sift through my installed custom content other than the sims 3 launcher? There is a custom content in my game that is buggy to the point where it makes the sim who wears it appear to have no pants on at all. This is annoying because the AI of the game when creating new sims on its own always chooses that custom content to use as its pants. There is also another one that causes toddlers and children to appear to be child size and have very long arms. I am unable to delete the buggy custom clothing in game and sadly, I can't find the file when looking through my custom content. I dont want to have to delete all of them to fix the problem. Is there a mod or program that allows you to fix this kind of stuff?

 Re: Relationship Problems
Hey guys,
I'm just wondering, did EA release a more updated patch since the last one? The one that doesn't cause any problems?
If so, should I download it or skip it?
Thanks!
