Re: How many people here like Zelda?
Zelda is something I've played my whole life, Link's like my brother.
S00per Hawt br0th3r, lawlz.
Zelda isn't anime, each game has a different art/graphical style. So, to say you don't like the series strictly because of the "anime" look to it is silly, of course, judging any game merely off of it's graphical style is silly.

Re: How many people here like Zelda?
Offtopic: I'd like to know where that class was taken. I've never in my life heard of such a odd reason behind the style, while it could be true. I guess I just think there are other reasons. Plus, if you've seen any series worth the time and I'm not saying ones that are mainstream. But there are some anime's that are not the class cut giant chibi eyes and mouth of cuteness. Take the time to look into it more instead of judging the mainstream ones. And about the mouth/lips speech, again look for ones that take the time to draw the frames.

Alot of asians don't like the look of their culture's small eyes, in fact, plastic surgery of the eye is the number one plastic surgery performed in Japan to make the eyes look larger. They exaggerate the size of the eye because of this. It is just very strange to me how a culture that is so definted in appearance would want to make their cultural cartoons look entirely like another culture on purpose, instead of hilighting their own features. We did have to watch alot of anime movies in the class. The one I liked was Ghost in the Shell, mostly because the characters didn't have the horribly typical gigantic eyes. Yes they were larger than normal, but not so grotesque. The animations were better too. Still can't stand the mainstream girly pokemon stuff. HUGE difference

Re: How many people here like Zelda?
Every culture has it's ideas about what's beautiful, typically in most cultures large eyes are considered attractive. It's funny if you look at a lot of cultures and races they go in a different direction in how their race usually looks; In China extended bones to be taller is a popular surgury, mostly, the Chinese are short.
I still don't see what anime has to do with Zelda though.

Re: How many people here like Zelda?
...When you think about it, it's not really Anime. Zelda's a sword-weilding fiery princess, not some half-naked teenage girl whose friends all have planets as their names. (Pick up the Sailor Moon reference?) I guess that Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass can be considered Chibi-style, as well as some of the front-shots from Minish Cap...

Re: How many people here like Zelda?
I don't see how anyone can hate anime! I like both the styles you gave examples of (even if I don't think I'd actually want to watch much of the second), though everyone to their own I guess. But I'm not happy with that. This is the first interesting topic in weeks! Keep discussing!!

I don't know one person personally who does like it actually, I've only know people to be annoyed by it (minus the annoying kid in third grade who was OBSESSED with pokemon and everyone hated him for it)

Re: How many people here like Zelda?
I have to admit I dislike almost all anime too. I have no qualms against the artwork, but the TV shows are usually obnoxious. FMA and Outlaw Star are good, though.

Re: How many people here like Zelda?
What really annoyed me with shows like Pokemon, Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh was that annoying face practically every character would pull once an episode. Their eyes go white, with lines drawn through them, a weird broken-up + sign would appear on their foreheads and a teardrop would be plastered next to their eyes. I've seen Misty do it so many times, it was one of the reasons I stopped getting up at 7am to watch Pokemon. (This was like 7 years ago, don't worry. )

Re: How many people here like Zelda?
Wind walker and Phantom hourglass I can see you considering anime like due to it's art style. And it's perfectly fine for you to dislike anime, so lets not all jump'em for not liking it. Anime is almost a acquired taste to some people. Like everything, there are styles to how people film series and movies, there are styles to how people draw anime movies and series. It's not something everyone has to like. When you guys speak of #1 surgeries though, I bet you money US's is breasts. -.-'

Zelda games are awesome! It's a consistently good series. You can count on every game being fun.
