 Toy Story - R/L toys
Okay, I never thought of myself as having an addictive personality (which, as I realised, is quite frankly stupid considering my 5-year-long Sims addiction), but after seeing Toy Story 3 I made it my mission to have a complete set of Andy's toys. As in, real life ones. Strange considering I'd never even seen the original Toy Story until a week or two before the third one came out, and that Toy Story 2 was my least favourite Pixar movie as a child (that is, until Cars came out. ). Anyway, it's been like 6 months and I've (almost) completed the goal I set out to achieve! So my question is this: Who out there also has some Toy Story Collection toys? (I know Erry has the Mr. Potato Head) So far I've got: Woody, Jessie, Buzz, Bullseye, Mr. Potato Head (who incidentally broke, so I gave him a sex change and turned him into a nice-looking Mrs. Potato Head), Rex, Slink, Bucket O Soldiers and the Aliens. I've got a new Mr. Potato Head who is at the moment somewhere between here and Chicago, and a Hamm who I just bought from eBay a couple of hours ago ($70 piggy bank, anyone?) I've included a (crappy) photo from my phone, because I seriously couldn't be bothered finding my camera.

Well, besides the potato head (whose parts fall off when you scream at him) we have slinky, the car from the first movie, Woody, Jessie, Bullseye and 3 aliens. We're not planning on having a full set, just the ones we can find at the moment.

Re: Toy Story - R/L toys
I have a smaller scale Woody and a regular size Buzz, which I got for Christmas the year the first Toy Story came out. My idiot misunderstood cousin dipped Woody's hand in some baked beans when we were kids and the stain never came out

Re: Toy Story - R/L toys
I did some serious maths (serious!) and figured out there was no way in hell that there'd be enough bookcase space left when Mr. Potato Head and Hamm get here so I had to move them to the top of my chest of drawers. I'm trying to find the plush Dolly and the Peas in a Pod from Disney Stores but we don't seem to have any in Australia and I don't want to pay $30 shipping for them from evil eBayers so I'm screwed at the moment. Also yes, that is my gender-bending Mrs. Potato Head. I lost her flower though. [EDIT] I found the Peas-in-a-Pod and Dolly on eBay, it's only like $30 for the two of them including P&H, so I just have to wait for stupid paypal to accept this deposit and then they'll be mine! I bought another barrel of monkeys as well, now I have 3 of them. They come with 4 blue, 4 yellow and 4 red ones and I'm only after the red ones. Next on my list is Totoro. He's like $60 on the Otaku website and shipping from Japan might be pricey.

Re: Toy Story - R/L toys
Hamm and Potato Head are still in the mail, Dolly and the Peas in a Pod should be here in a few days, and as soon as I can scrounge up the money, my $90 Totoro plushie will be shipped. This is a very expensive collection. EDIT: Isn't he adorkable though?

I read it before and was like, "Wtf are they talking about??" So funny. And kinda sad I didn't get it at first since my mind usually dwells in the gutter... ∂яąιк wrote: Hamm and Potato Head are still in the mail, Dolly and the Peas in a Pod should be here in a few days, and as soon as I can scrounge up the money, my $90 Totoro plushie will be shipped. Re: Toy Story - R/L toys
I got an SMS from DHL (the shipping company that was in charge of sending me my Potato Head) yesterday saying that he got routed to Vietnam and I have to ring them immediately to organise a re-shipping. Also, I have the money for Totoro! I just have to go to the bank in the next couple of days to deposit it and then need to order him. Hopefully he won't get shipped to Vietnam as well.

Re: Toy Story - R/L toys
Dolly and the Peas arrived about 5 days ago, Mr. Potato Head arrived this morning (a month after the expected delivery date), Hamm should be at the post office waiting for me to pick him up, and Totoro is ordered and shipped. I'm dangerously close to completing the collection, and I have no idea what to do now.

Re: Toy Story - R/L toys
Can't you just hear it softly whispering "buuuuuuuy meeeeeee..."? For the insanely low price of just $60 (that's EXCLUDING $30 P&H) you can buy one of your own. Still on the fence about getting Barbie. In any case, I won't be getting the Toy Story-branded one because she looks like a hooker, I'd go for the original Barbie that the movie version was based on - Great Shape Barbie. I'm hoping the next 'wave' of the collection-branded toys has Trixie the Triceratops and a non-homemade Mrs. Potato Head so then I'll HAV DEM ALL. I think if I keep collecting, I'll get started on the Sunnyside group next. There's already a TSC Lotso out there as well as a Chunk, Sparks and Twitch made by the same company. A vintage 60's Chatter Telephone costs about $15 on eBay, Ken was based off a real Ken doll (Animal Lovin' Ken), and Big Baby is basically just an old doll that's been horribly mutilated. The only one that would be hard to get is Stretch, considering that there isn't a 'proper' version of her out there. Although I really should stop. By my calculations, I've spent... Um, wow. I'd rather not say how much I've spent. But it's a lot closer to $900 than it is to $1000, I swear!

Re: Toy Story - R/L toys
Wow, that must take utter passion. I've always wanted to start a collection, but don't know what I'd collect. I think I'm too young / poor to spend that much money on that kind of stuff, however.

Re: Toy Story - R/L toys
I paid a little visit to the post office today and who did I find waiting out the back for me? The penultimate part of my collection (for now), Hamm! He's frickin' massive, seriously. Almost 30cm (12 inches) from head to toe. Now I can re-enact the the Evil Dr. Porkchop scene from Toy Story 2. There's been a mix-up with Totoro as well, I got an email from the website selling him that I was about $20 short on the payment... apparently my bank tried to take 20% out of the total money transferred as 'handling tax', so I've had to do it by PayPal instead. Only problem is that PayPal takes about a week to transfer money from my bank account, and I can't reserve 'my' Totoro, which was the last one up for sale. I've also started making my own Babyface from Toy Story 1 - that creepy doll's head on top of the Meccano spider base. I've finished the base but still need a doll's head. My sister refused to let me amputate one of hers, so I'm going to need to go op-shopping soon.

Re: Toy Story - R/L toys
Totoro's been ordered and paid for! According to the website, he'll arrive on my birthday, which would be so awesome!
[EDIT] Okay, so now it's telling me that he'll be here in 3-5 days. I also decided to get Great Shape Barbie because she's kinda a part of the group.

Re: Toy Story - R/L toys
I don't like to triple-post but Totoro arrived! The shippers were super-careful with him, he was doubly wrapped in bubblewrap and had newspaper shoved in the empty spaces in the box so he wouldn't move around at all. Which is odd considering he's a plush. PICS! Now my collection is complete kind of (I need a damn Trixie!) I'll do some re-enactments from the movies because I'm bored of the holidays and have nothing better to do in my spare time. First up is this one:

I stop the double post streak :) I think the collection is looking freaking amazing. It really amazes me that a hobby can be this determined.

Re: Toy Story - R/L toys
My obsession has to stop now, I've collected all that I told myself to for the time being. Until Trixie comes out in August, it is complete and I don't know what to do now. Which is why I've started on re-enactments. Ehm, I'm not too good at messing with lighting and stuff on the camera, and I fail even worse at Photoshopping pictures, so I had to use an opaque black to very transparent orange circular gradient to do this and even then it looks not-too-good. Anywhoo, I present my first recreation of a scene in the movie.
