That doesn't make one bit of sense. Where in the world did the 'r' come from, then?

I just can't go on believing that the word did not come about in some way from 'bro' plus 'pony' no matter how many excuses are made (I have never seen anybody explain the 'r'). That's why I will never call myself one.
