 Logic Problem 4 - getting 4 gallons
A camp cook wants to measure four gallons of water out of a barrel, but he has only a five-gallon and a three-gallon container.
How can he do it?
Hint: a version of this trick was done in the movie Die Hard: With a Vengance.

Fill the 3-gallon and pour it into a different container three times . Fill the five gallon with the water from the other container. The remaining water is 4-gallons.

Uhh.. let's think about this.. you want 4 gl left in the 5 gl container so... the best way to do that would be to have the 5gl container full, the 3 gl one 2/3 full, then add water to the 3gl container, and you'd only need 1gl to add to make it full, taking off 1gl from the 5gl one making it 4 gls!
I'll work on it now, I think that's kinda what I'm aiming for, but it's tricky because I don't know hoiw to get a 2/3 full container and a full 5gl container at the same time. >_<
I'll think about this... Is that kidna what I'm aiming for?

I see that this post has responces.. I don't want to see what they came up with, so I'll just post my answer before looking at the responses. (I love doing these problems.)
A camp cook wants to measure four gallons of water out of a barrel, but he has only a five-gallon and a three-gallon container.
Hm...
Ok. Fill the Five Gallon Jug. Pour 3 gallons into the Three Gallon Jug, leaving 2 gallons in the Five Gallon Jug.
(Three Gallon = 3 Gallons, Five Gallon = 2 Gallons)
Dump out the contents of the Three Gallon Jug. Pour the contents of the Five Gallon Jug into the Three Gallon Jug.
(Three Gallon = 2 Gallons, Five Gallon = 0 Gallons)
Fill the Five Gallon Jug. Pour the contents of the Five Gallon jug into the Three Gallon Jug, emptying only 1 gallon.
(Three Gallon = 3 Gallons, Five Gallon = 4 Gallons!!! )
Yay!
