It's unhelpfully cryptic as usual, but to me it reads as either a defence of what happened, or an enforcing of the rule... like, "we can't have active threads around these parts *deletes* now don't do it again naughty members". Like when mods - boines, mainly - copy and paste rules whenever they're broken or even replace rulebreaks with them? Yeah.

Well not pointing any fingures here but if it was a moderator it would be safe to assume it would have been someone who actually bothered to obey Snooty's 1000 post per thread in F&G rule (however technically they weren't really obeying it since the direction was to lock it and let snooty delete it not do it yourself) and well all the threads deleted were over 1000 posts I assume. That is if it was a mod's doing of course, you never know we could have a bot that just randomly happens to delete certain popular threads in the off-topic section of this forum...

Does that rule even still apply? I think I remember it was under debate - I'm not sure why it's there in the first place, to be honest - and it never came to any particuar conclusion, but I do at least remember that Snooty said threads don't necessarily have to be deleted at that point if we don't want them to.

(Incidentally, enforcing a rule like that on a thread as busy as the Awkward Advent Calendar was would lead to a spamout of locked threads cluttering the place. It wouldn't help for organisation at all, less than two months have passed since it started and I think we'd be on the 4th or 5th thread by now. And then deleting them like they were mindless spam... well, no.)

I honestly can't conceive of the thought process that would lead to any sentient being making a decision like DELETING THOSE THREADS. A backlash is absolutely guaranteed, and after it already happening once how can you expect to get away with it a second time? It benefits absolutely nobody, pisses off everyone, I don't know who'd actually agree it's a good idea, and if no mod input was asked for when going ahead with an obviously controversial decision... well, really, wtf?



Yeah, it's at over 3000 posts... er, I'm keeping an eye on it in case the 'mystery' deleter comes back and goes "oh, I missed a spot".

I don't see why the rules must be changed. If it is supposed to be deleted after a said amount of posts, then it should be done.

I dont see why anyone would want try to over ride the owners rules.

If you don't like it, go make your own forum/board. and then you can make whatever rules you want.

I also think we should stop picking on Boines. Just because he brings up the rules, it does not mean he did what you all are accusing him of.


How about we put all the Mods on Blast. So if we are going to blame a Mod, then I am going blame All of them.

So I think they all had a hand in it some how.

Also for another Mod to put another Mod on Blast in the public forum is very rude and Shady. There is another place to bring that up at.

You have one only cause you reached 3000 before, so its fair, but if new members join, it'd look strange.

We can't blame other members, it's not fair. We have NO proof whatsoever, and this isn't the place to speculate. If a mod did it for the sake of the 'rules', I will be very upset. Those rules were made a long time ago, and to be honest, we've all forgotten the significance of them. The mods and Snooty definitely need to go over the rules and make a set of them we're all willing to follow, I think we've all just been really busy lately. The AAC was not a spam thread, it had a purpose and it made this forum fun again. I don't see why anyone would think deleting it would be a good idea, even a mod trying to follow the rules.

And we NEVER deleted the threads, we just locked them and let Snooty deal with it.

I think the reason for not having really long topics is that it's draining the forum and making it slower. And we all know it's slow at times...
