Well not neccesarily. Maybe the other way around, Snooty asks us who we think would be good. I don't know, I just want more of a democracy.

I still don't think that'd turn out very well, even if Snooty got the final say.

This is what I know after I was mod.
Before I was mod mike and jj kept begging me for mod lol
When snooty wants a new mod etc
We read the aps
from that we see how members feel about this person being mod
Then from this list it goes to gm/snooty
from that then everybody higher then a member decides togather

Ok, it saddens me to report this, however it has been brought to my attention that some people (who shall remain nameless) were unhappy with our choices in moderators. Well I suppose that is to be expected, cant make everyone happy, but I will explain the primary reasons why we chose who we did.
Simster6 was chosen to moderate General Discussion and Sims2Questions, because he reads more posts there than almost anyone else, and often gives links to people when they post in the wrong place. Those two forums are both very hard to manage, and I think simster6 is probably the best person to try and do it.
Lauren was an obvious choice. She was the only one who applied who has been at this forum longer than 4 months (actually she has been here as long as Juniper Jade and I have been, which was the day the forum opened!) She knows the members, is responsible and friendly, we were very happy to make her a Mod.
Me and Snooty both immediately decided on Boines for technical help. He is one of the smartest people here, knows the most about computers, and is always willing to help people. Even though he hasnt been here a long time, there is noone else who could have been a more perfect choice for tech help.
TS2AA is probably the most eager person to be a mod I have ever seen. Almost every day I got private messages from him telling me about topics that should be moved/locked or members that were breaking the rules. It was a tough choice in the end, but we think he will do a good job moderating wishlist and bodyshop.
And i will say this again, there were other people who might have gotten the job, but they didnt apply for it, so we didnt know they wanted it. You gotta be in it to win it

I remember that. I still think the application process is the best way.

No, I do too. I have members calling me mean and bossy all the time because I moderate what they do. They don't seem to get that it's my job. Not sure I would get elected if Erhama and Stabmixer had a say in it.

you do in a way. By how you treat these new soon to be mods, how you like these soon to be mods, etc.
We look how they would be better in helping the forum and getting things in order. You all have a say but its small ;(

Well I've very little idea of what we're talking about now...
I think it's fair enough that members have some say in the matter, if not the final choice. Snooty's not really down wit da kidz these days and doesn't know the members as well as they know each other. He'd probably wind up picking someone like Erhama when left totally to his own devices.

But it doesn't change who becomes mods. Like Erhama hates...well, all mods and EnVy dislikes Bonky but none of the mods will be fired because of that.
And EnVy if we could vote then maybe you'd get your way and Bonky wouldn't be a mod.

I think I'd come off better in a vote than a totally Snooty-driven choice, by the way, as I'm not sure he even has more than a vague idea of who I am.

I never said that I didn't like Bonky. I just didn't like his ways.
I've always been a fair person. even if I had a disagreement with certain mods, it does not mean that I won't vote for them.

Snooty certainly doesn't seem to be around much/pay much attention, and it would appear that the list of mods needs overhauled to be more appropriate for the needs and opinions of the community that has changed in the past 3 or 4 years.

Didn't boines just say that the other moderators have a say in it too? It doesn't have to just be Snooty, but if members start deciding I think it'll be a disaster.

We should decide some things though. We are the majority.

Yeah, but then it can easily be like the Soviet Politburo - those in power hanging on to it and appointing members who they deem to be appropriate.

When snooty asks for new mods it changes everytime because we need to know what he is looking for and go from there. He put some guidelines during the last session of picking. So whenever snooty asks us for new mods we come up with new guidelines and read app blah blah Tons of people dislikes one another as far as I can see. Me I want this forum to be better since I was asked to be gm to help the forum and thats all I do and since I dont chat with you all and social means Im guilty more then others? XD

I'm sure the majority of members are sensible enough to recognise a good job being done rather than simply who has the best sig or whatever.

Well, this is a forum, not a country. We don't really need to hold a whole election to get new mods. I trust Snooty's decision. That was how Roxas got his position, and I feel like he's the best mod here.
