I don't for a minute mean this post to imply that I'm not happy with the overall state of the forum at present, however there are some possible changes I'd like to see investigated and discussed.

As I've said elsewhere, I'm a bit concerned at the current convention of mods apparently having a 'job for life' until they decide to resign. I'd like to see some method where mods need to be re-elected, re-approved or whetever from time to time. I think it would stop possible problems where mods seem to ignore their responsibilities and rarely turn up on the board, it might require them to be more familiar with the membership and vice versa, and it might make the mods slightly more accountable to the membership as a whole. I'd certainly not like to see a popularity contest, but I'm sure that there's no need for that.

Also, I'm a bit concerned that the only administrator rarely seems to be around. When there are problems on the board, such as when there's a spam attack, or when there are some obcsene posts as have happened recently on more than one occasion - it often takes forever to be sorted out. Also, I understand there are problems with certain other day-to-day tasks that need to be carried out, like creating back-ups which don't seem to be done. Consequently, I'd suggest that one or more of the mods who are around more often should have administrator rights to deal with these problems and help the board run more smoothly without having to rely on Snooty dropping by to fix things. Clearly he's not here much, so it seems to me to be sensible that someone who is here should be able to do the same work if required while not diminishing Snooty's ultimate power.

I completely agree. Because there are some mods who never post, when new members join they're going to wonder who the heck those people are.

Ok, see thats where I see differ. You have some mods who are here, but they don't post. So why must they lose their position just because they don't post?

I don't think we need another admin ok.

One change that I would like to see is. Keeping the perverts off this board. Because We actually have one amoungst us on this site, and it is disturbing to say the least.

No offence to anyone, but it's really hard to do both. When was the last time he was on for more than 5 minutes? It's not a criticism, if he can't be here due to other commitments, well good for him. But I feel the board could be enhanced by someone having the same rights to deal with things who is here more often.

Also Snooty Sims has been fine with the 1 admin since it has opened. I think the site is fine.

Just because Snooty seems to not be around doesn't mean he isn't. I think he more or less expects the mods to take care of the spam attacks. And as for posting... he doesn't really have to. Devoting attention to updating the main site is where his attention goes it appears and it's better spent there.

Yes, I think that maybe one or two mods should have more power to deal with problems more immediately and take a more proactive (I hate that word) stance on maintenance.

As I said in the original post, the site is fine, but it could always be better, and I think that to suggest that it couldn't be better would be complacent.

As for the pervert you speak of, I think that if someone who has the power to ban were around more often then the issue might be tackled more effectively.

100% with Guy. I rarely see Snooty online, and when he is, he does a good job of ignoring us. Sure, it's a voluntary position, not a job that he's paid to do etc, but I take things like regular back-ups for granted at forums. Snooty won't even answer whether there's a back-up, let alone revert to one. I think we'd definitely benefit from another admin. Like Snooty Spore did, and that hardly had anything to take care of in the first place.

The forum's not about to eat itself up in a fit of misery the way things are but unless someone obviously unfit for the role was picked, I don't see how it'd get worse.

Maybe hes in ftp, researching news, and all the things we chat about. So how do you know hes not online? Dont look at his name. He can be many things without people knowing like me helping guys in pms, etc.
Another admin? Why should snooty even give somebody he doesn't really know much more power? They can remove him as admin and change more things?? I dont want this to happen.
I have ran over 10+ ipb forums back in the day wasn't really on but I was on doing scripts, shoutbox, etc. But didn't post much. I mod 3 sites now went down from 21 sites lol.
You all got things wrong.

The problem isn't literally his online presence, it's that he isn't using it for any clear benefit to us - if he IS online constantly, that's even worse, he'd be purposefully ignoring people. And again, I must establish that this isn't really a complaint against Snooty, it's a suggestion that would just help the forum, and himself, a lot.

And really, I think most of the moderators, at the very least, can be trusted not to run rampage with adminship. Like I said, it doesn't even seem too unlikely he'd go ahead with it, he already did it with Snooty Spore (R.I.P.-ish) and that was nowhere near as busy.

I'm glad you agree - he's got quite enough to do without all the admin of the site too.

Snooty doesn't come to the forum much bc he has tons of mods and mod has rules to set the forum right.
Hes more of a site guy researching, etc.
Like when I was at ea all I head was good things about how he gets news, goes to events, talks to the community, etc.
We are mods and we "mod" the forum. We know whats going on and know how to take care of it like it states in rules that I guess you wanted to know before you wanted mod lol

I've seen a new admin kick me as admin when I hosted a game site. Was funny. So you never know ;D

I have about 4 hours a day to spend time on my site. That may seem a lot, but most of you have absolutely no idea what it takes to run a site. And I have more then 1. I really am not going to apologize for not being here more often.
The mods are chosen with much consideration and I am very thankful for their work, but Bonky, you are stepping out of line. If you have a problem with how I run things, just step down; I can do without the insult. You yourself have broken more rules then a lot of members here.

So don't you think it would be a sensible idea to allow someone else to take some of the load of administering the forum off you?

question is if he says yes who can understand everything admin does on phpbb thats a mod now? Very few.
