I don't think it is either. I think everyone needs to step back and take a really deep breath, okay? Everyone needs to back off of each other's throats and seriously cool down.

While I'm sure illmatic's and EnVy's claims aren't baseless (I've never known Jade to just make up stuff, especially stuff that really matters), it's also true that this charged atmosphere of RAWR HATE needs to simmer. If you step back and look at it, you'll realize you're on a Sims fansite forum. On the internet. It's seriously not a huge deal, okay?

I really don't like the idea of all the mods taking sides. This is just my opinions so I don't care if you reject it, but yeah.. I don't think the mods should get involved in the forum drama. It's alright if they have opinions, but they should NOT let those opinions influence their moderatorly duties. They should try to stay out of drama as much as possible, I think; it just makes for an easier-to-digest place when what's essentially the "government" doesn't squabble around like 8-year-olds. It doesn't accomplish anything, and all it really does is hurt the forum in general.

If people have issues with each other they should certainly bring them up! But they should be brought up as factually as possible.. like, you know, a list of complaints. Don't let your little feelings get in the way of things. You have an issue with the management, and it'd be much easier to persuade them if you have, you know.. a list of things that you find wrong with the forum, as compared to a slightly manic post in which all you really do is create more problems.

P.S. I think that besides the mystery-posts-being-deleted thing, the mods and admin here really do an exceptionally good job.

Well, I certainly agree with that.

I think it's kind of funny how three years ago I would have loved 'drama' like this, but now reading it makes me feel kind of ill.

We can all agree that Snooty is a busy man. He's got a website to run, as well as this forum - and he only has four hours a day to update both. I certainly don't expect him to be here all the time, and I think we've gotten along fine without him being an active member. People get their custom titles, and, eventually, trolls get banned.

I, personally, don't think that any of the mods can be trusted with admin powers. None of us seem to agree on anything at the moment, so I don't see how we could ever be put in charge this forum. We've gotten along fine. Making mods administrators will NOT fix the problems this forum has.

The mods need to learn to come together and act as one force. At the moment, we're not. We definitely need some feedback from members of the forum, and I think we should act on whatever needs to be fixed.

It's just weird...because it's all been running smoothly up until now. In my three years of being a moderator, I've never experienced this much unhappiness from members. I'm busy too, and so are the other mods...this forum isn't our life...you guys need to remember that.

And I like being able to be a member too. I like being a part of topics and having relationships with members. It's just hard to balance being the perfect moderator and an active member.

EnVy and illmatic, you're out of line for calling Guy a 'pervert'. You have an issue with him, take it to PMs. This is NOT the place for name-calling or insults. As two members who are so hung up on the rules, you should know this.

Having looked at a few of the topics EnVy's posted in in the past and noticed that this isn't the first time she called people perverts without any justification, and how Jade seems to agree with whatever EnVy says, I think I'll treat these very serious and entirely false accusations with the contempt they deserve. As I've said though, I'm perfectly happy to let mods look at any of my PMs and have absolutely no intention of ever contacting EnVy or Jade.

Brit, I certainly never intended to create 'drama' as you put it, merely create a discussion about possible problems with the forum and suggested solutions - as you say, feedback from the members and potentially suggestions about what to do. I've no idea why anyone has taken anything I or anyone else for that matter has said as an attack on the forum or Snooty in particular. I don't feel I'm creating problems - but reacting in a positive manner to pre-existing problems.

As has been said, Snooty is a busy man and can't be expected to be here all the time. I've got no complaint with that. However, I do think it's perfectly legitimate to suggest that some of his necessary powers be shared with others who are here more often. Brit, you say that 'people get their custom titles, and, eventually, trolls get banned'. True. But is 'eventually' ideal? And (while it's not a big issue in the grand scheme of things) I understand that when one member PM'd Snooty to get her custom title it sat in her inbox for a fortnight before Snooty read it. Again - that's not me saying that Snooty isn't doing his job properly or anything like that, but it does indicate that perhaps someone needs to be able to take care of things like that - and banning people - who is more likely to respond in a timely manner.

If the mods are seriously not responsible enough to be given such power, and it would appear that at least one mod has a malign influence in deleting threads if that is indeed what happened, then fair enough. But wouldn't that indicate that changes of some sort ought to be more seriously considered rather than people coming up with responses like 'anyone who thinks this place isn't perfect can leave'?

Mabye all the mods need to have a chatroom meeting and discuss this matter amongst themselves. Becausue bringing members into this just makes situations more hesitant and it puts pressure on the issue.

You guys... all need to chill. This is just a forum. Where we come, to enjoy stuff... Reading those four pages was a total buzz kill. I think we should all just live and let live.

If there are topics here that are so important to some, it may be an option to start a new forum where all these (ended) topics are moved to.
A so called "Backup forum".
It can be set that it's only readable and that no mod can moderate it.

As for backups, that's very difficult. I can't just press a button and the whole forum is backupped or restored. The forum has grown too large and I need to go into the database and download each part seperately. Takes me over an hour.
An extra problem is that the Search part is too big (over 5 million lines) and can't be backupped. So if there was ever a need to backup the whole forum, you won't be able to search old topics.
I'm still working on that though. Moving over to phpbb 3.0 is also something that must be done soon.

If the first is possible then couldn't you move it into a forum where it can be posted in?

back up forum man. Meaning like an archive that he has to buy from his host or store on a free site but they wont hold this amount of load at all
