Post Demise of Maturity
Well, old members, as myself, who have been more active than what their post count shows, thanks to some rather irresponsible mods(which isn't what this is about at all) have probably noticed so many more flamers and immature people here over the years.

I'll admit, I was immature here a couple of years ago myself, and so were some others that have too grown out of it.

If you remember, especially in '04 and '05 there were many more mature simmers and posters on here such as the almighty mikeinside and Juniper Jade. We have some good members here who are new, and we have of course the bad ones, good and old.

This forum has become more of a flame and argument place, at least in chatter box debate threads. I have recently noticed this in the Gay Marriage topic. I don't go much out of chatter box, so I don't know about others. The majority of topics end up going off topic. The off topic posts turn into people posting how that is off topic and even some flaming. This is normal for a forum, but four years ago, I don't remember much of that.

Discuss about what you have seen in a long or even short period of time about the lack of mature posts and posters. Has this forum become just a place for trash and mindless nonsense?

I know what you mean though, it is annoying to have a serious thread locked due to the immaturity of some members. Hopefully after sims 3 is released (another reason I hate it...) this will calm down.

Yes I agree, it is getting quite annoying, and I apologize for having to lock threads for immaturity, but when people blatantly ignore your warnings, you really have no choice, I would have liked to see a civil conversation come out of some interesting topics, but sadly its just not the case with some members...

But if it's a topic that deserves to be discussed more, couldn't you just delete their posts?

Deleting posts on things like that doesn't usually help unless it is something that must be deleted. Such as: Porn imagaes, lots of cussing or spamminess, you do the rest of the thinking.

Yeah, people will start topics that seem like they could be interesting, but then other people will get off topic, spam, and then there's those huge quotes... Is because of the fact that there's a new forum so then people think they can spam here? It's not like they can't get banned from either one...

I blame Erhama.

Well I don't know if when I joined was a really mature time, but I do see a lot of spam lately, and I do find it sad that we can't have the least bit of a mature discussion here.

I particularly saw this in that topic about the Pope. All of the sudden it was a bunch of spam, and even a moderator was kind of participating in it. :indifferent:

*sigh*
I wanted to put forth a serious discussion and then Erhama and Raina decided to spam. And I don't think Starlight was participating, all she was doing was warning Erhama not to quote, which, obviously, didn't work.

I am glad other people see it the same way I do! D:

I log onto this forum merely out of habit, but at the same time I don't really see any reason why. Most of the friends I've made here have already left, the environment here has changed, and I feel like I'm a newcomer all over again. That "online-home" feeling isn't really apparent to me anymore, and it's kind of hard to get back when people find something (UNREASONABLE) to argue about in every single topic. On the internet. Whaaaaa? I'd figure there's more reasonable things in life than to have drama Laguna-Beach-style on a Sims forum.

And the spam. hgjkhlgjkhkjtoy. That was amusing a long time ago, and I'm sure we all did our own joke-spam and pretended to be immature to poke fun at ourselves at least once. But you know, doing that and post-bumping with over-quotes and bickering in every topic of every day just for the heck of it made it get stale old. And obviously lost any supposed amusement it had.
I've had plenty of fun in the past 4 years here without "acting out for the lulz".

Sorry, my mistake... It wasn't a moderator, it was just a random member that for some reason I thought was a moderator lol. But they were telling another member to stop double posting, and they were double posting themselves, a lot. When I told them that they were double posting they double posted again saying that I was the one double posting.

Go to the Fun and Games forum. The Chatterbox is for more serious topics. Topics with actual discussion.

I'm sorry, but it's really sad when we can't even have a serious discussion without it turning into a spam war.[

Erhama, as envious said, the fun and games is more of the spam/fun forum. I don't see how someone who goes to the fun and games forum as much as you needs to go "have fun" spamming all the time in the chatter box forum. It's fun to troll a little bit, yeah and just act kind of dumb, but whenever it's constant, that's when it is just too far.

The F&G forum is pretty much left alone by mods, so people can take your silliness there. But I guess it's not as fun when it's allowed.

Hopefully, now that this forum is converted, it will be easier to handle rule breakers and spammers. Not sure what the warnings do, but it's a great way to keep count of how many times someone has crossed the line. I am sure you will be seeing more temporary bans now that we have the tools for it. Also, when the other forum closes, we will get several new mods here that are eager to keep an eye on things. Hopefully that will discourage members from spamming and being mean to others.

The other forum closing?! I am more concerned with that now. :P Oh..and another off topic thing, where is the off topic button on here?

Anyways, that's good that we can keep a better eye on this place. I for one want to see it under more control like it was before.

Oh and brandina, I also get the feeling that snootysims isn't that home place like it used to be. But I guess that's just how things are.

The forum being updated will definitely make it easier to keep all kinds of spam under control. There is a nifty report post feature that members can use. Using it will alert staff to that post that was reported.

Also fun & games will no longer raise post count as of a few hours ago. Problem solved.

That should settle things down as post counts seem to just motivate people to post there all the time.
