Does anybody else think gay and lesbian hate crimes are horriably wrong. I'm straight, but i think just because you have a different sexual orientation doesn't mean people have the right to kill you or do terrible things to you. for example Lawrence King.

Homophobes are plain ignorant. Homophobia is like racism and antisemitism or other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a select group of people, to deny their humanity and respect as people. Anyone who alienates a group of people in that way are disgusting.

it is. it's the same as racism etc. just because someone is different from you. that's no reason to hate them or harm them. everybody deserves to be happy.

Despite being gay, I don't see why everyone is so surprised. Hate crimes against homosexuals have been happening since the beginning of time and will continue to happen until the end of it. Yes, it's horrible, but it's not going to stop.

I'm not going to fear for my life over it, and I'm not going to lobby over it, either. Bigotry and hatred are a part of life and are always going to be, no matter how many people try and change it. It's horrible, but people cannot be forced to change.

My heart goes out to the family of the murdered boy. You've no idea how much I wish this world were one without hatred or fear.

I just can't understand why people get so scared and hateful towards gays or lesbians. There's just no reason, it's not like they're gonna hurt you, or even have any contact with you at all (unless you know them closely).

There's a lesbian teacher at my school, and the other day she asked someone to do a job with her, he was so freaked out, and when he finished he told the whole school he thought she might rape him. I was like "SHE'S LESBIAN. SHE LIKES WOMAN. NOT HORNY 15 YEAR OLD BOYS."

I am really sick and fucking tired of the stereotype that all lesbians or all gays are out to force themselves upon you.

Homosexuality is not a sexual dysfunction or a mental disorder. Being gay does not give you the sudden, unexplained urge to rape every same-sex person in sight.
