I would have liked to make the clothing part of the game a bit more interactive. For example, having washing machines, dryers, and having to iron the clothes before putting them back into the closet. Also, I thought it would have been nice if your Sims could make their own clothes using unique colours and designs. I know this would add a bit more to the sims routine, but for me personally, it would make it so much more fun. Also, cleaning would be another thing to have added. Instead of just cleaning toilets etc, I would have liked it if you would hoover the floor and dust cabinets. It would make it so much more realistic and would relate much more to the real world.

I just stumbeled across this post, and wondered... how many people are out there wanting a complex clothing system...? Because it sounds very stupid to me.
It would be nice to say your reason for choosing your pool option...

I don't think I'd want to have to do laundry. Maybe if it wasn't too much of a to-do to do it.

What I'd like, though, would be to layer clothes better. So you could throw a shirt & jacket together without having the combo pre-built. That sort of thing.

I picked neutral because if it was something that the Sims would do by themselves then I think it would be a good idea. And it would be cool if slobs didn't care if they were wearing dirty clothes or not. But I can see how it would be a hassle because if it wasn't an automatic thing for them to do then you as the player would have to remember to have them do it.

I also said this where this was posted, I think it would be good for stay at home parents because honestly in TS2 they were sometimes really boring. They often ran out of things to do. But in I don't know how it will be in TS3. But it could be a good activity to pass a little bit of time for Sims who don't have much going on.

Layering clothes would be cool too. I've always wished that. I'm glad we finally got shoes to pick from! :bouncy:

I know this is crazy, but I've always wanted them to have washers and dryers. I'm not too interested in actually having to do the laundry (just like in real life!) but when I make houses, I often use a floor plan that has a place for a washer and dryer. It would just add a little reality to my house. I would be okay with the laundry but I think ironing would go overboard. I don't want to be like Rich Vos on the first season of Last Comic Standing and be constantly ironing. Seriously, in every confessional the man was ironing.

I also wish we could layer as we please. I hear there is a little of this in the game now, but I often wear a collar shirt with a sweater and I layer all the time. I understand that most people don't, and that the designers were going for a more realistic town feel, but I just don't like the simple clothes I've seen so far. Recoloring will probably help, though.

Offtopic: Samweed, I've loved your avatar for a long time now. It is Bruce Springsteen, correct? If it's someone newer I have no idea, I'm so old-fashioned. If it is The Boss, it's the best picture I have ever seen of him. Evah.

I layer all the time too. Living in a cold climate you have to. So maybe for a Season EP they can add this.

Offtopic: Actually my icon is of a popular Mexican singer.

Offtopic: Well, he is quite hot. I'm actually going to make an outfit for my sim based on his because it is quite lovely. In many senses of the word.

I work part-time in a clothing store, and we have to layer (company rules) so I just got so used to it that even on a summer day I wear a tank-top under a t-shirt. I can't help it, it's ingrained in me now. But the other day I was at the grocery store and I stopped to look at how everyone else was dressed, and even the "hot young girl" was only wearing a halter and jeans. So, I guess most people don't have the patience for layering.

Offtopic: You should totally look him up just for fun. His name is Alfonso or Poncho Herrera.

Hmm... I didn't know that so many people didn't layer. Weird. lol

So, do you guys think that since some people make space for a laundry rooms in their sim homes do you think that they should include like non-usable washers and dries?

Another thing that if laundry was included they could have a clothes line in the yard so your sims can dry their clothes outside. Maybe Sims that love the outdoors could get a positive moodlet for it.

I would personally like a compromise of sorts. I think the clothing system of the base game should be retained, however, if there is a Work/Business EP then hopefully there will also be a sewing machine and possibility of opening a clothes shop. Sims who shop at such stores will be able to buy more unique outfits that are not available through CAS or the wardrobe (though a cheat would be able to unlock them for those who are frustrated by that thought).

I highly doubt laundry will be introduced, since one of the aims of the developers is to concentrate less on the mundane side of life.

EDIT: I also would love to be able to layer clothes. I would like to be able to have a possible 3 layers for bottom and top clothing and full body outfits. Vests, strap tops, decorative bras, tights and socks for the first layer, the normal outfit as the second and then jackets, cardigans, wraps and shirts as the third. If outerwear is ever reintroduced, I would like that to be another layer over the top of the normal clothing (though you could still have the option to completely change the entire outfit).

:yikes: Thanks but no thanks, I play with my sims to escape mundane rituals like ironing.

I think the laundry thing would have been a better fit for the clothing system of TS2 than of the one for TS3. I think it could be interesting as long as it didn't take to long. How often you had to do laundry depends on how many outfits they had. This way they would also autonomously wear different outfits.

I would hate to do laundry.

but a more complete clothing system as in layering your clothes would be AWESOME!
but no laundry.

That and mowing the lawn maybe.
Of course. Maids could take up the clothes cleaning or go to a cleaners for people who don't want ot hassle with it and the same for the lawn, some sort of npc.

I want more things to do that are realistic.

Hm... I don't really like the idea of laundry being mandatory. But perhaps it could give your sims a positive moodlet, like when they brush their teeth.
Only in this case, maybe sims could also give other sims a positive moodlet.
For example, there could be the interactions 'Do Own Laudry' and 'Do so-and-so's Laundry.'.
It could even help improve the sim's hygiene.

There isn't enough time to do all that, it just seems like a big time waster.

 It can be boring enough already watching our sims sleep and eat...just imagine how boring it would be to watch them wash and iron there clothing, it takes long enough to get them ready to send them out to work as it is.

I think watching a Sim iron his clothes would be about as entertaining as watching him pee. This seems like a really boring direction to take the game. However, I would LOVE nonworking washers and dryers to decorate the house with.
