Since there's only about a bazillion complaints threads clogging this section... let's have one topic for them all. Post your complaints with the game, if you don't like it, if you hate it or want to burn your copy. Go for it without fear. :P

And if I catch anyone acting atrociously to someone for posting their opinion expect action. I won't tolerate the disgusting name calling and swearing I've seen in previous topics.

Story progression was such a disappointment! Sims don't actually live out normal lives on their own! They move around randomly and babies materialize. It's just haphazard population control! I wish we could tweak story control. At minimum, the option for story progression should be on an individual household basis. We should be able to have a few households that don't go through story progression, while others do. Ideally, we'd be able to give some sort of general direction for story progression (give bare bones instructions before switching families). Maybe story progression could run something like the different work options ("business as usual," "meet coworkers," etc.). Imagine going into "Edit Town" mode and clicking on different households with such options as "focus on career" or "raise family."

Also, toddlers can't interact with other toddlers...it's really strange for twin toddlers not to be able to play together (and fight over toys!) or to develop any sort of relationship until childhood.

Lastly, being active around town is great, but it's really difficult to switch between lots far away, especially if there are multiple Sims scattered around the neighborhood. My computer isn't that fast, so there's a bit of a lag when the camera shifts from one place to another. Even if it was speedier, I'd like to keep an eye on multiple Sims at once. Why not have a split screen (like Player 1 and Player 2 screens in a video game)?

I agree so much with you about the toddlers. I had hoped they would at least be able to interact like they did with the doll house, but they don't seem to gain any social points with each other. Same with the turtle table. In Nightlife with the similar table they did gain social points with each other. They were also able to draw too. I don't know why they gave the table paper and crayons in TS3 if they weren't going to have an option for children to draw. Hopefully they're foreshadowing, but they should have provided it in the base game if that's the case. :indifferent:

My evil children also can't steal candy from their toddler siblings because they can't gain the needed social points.

It would be nice to have something to track them better with. I'm not sure if having a split spring would be too much or not, but at least a little window in the corner like we had the option of in TS1 and TS2 when something special was happening (like when Claire the bear walked onto the lot in TS1, and I think it also worked for the arrival of NPCs and/or visitors). At least it would be easier to track them.

I agree that story progression certainly isn't perfect. If it wasn't for the awesome mod I'd get irritated more often, although I do understand their reasoning for having toddlers spawn.

Post Re: Complaint Department: Got one?
I have several but I still think this game is much better then the sims 2.

1)Friends can't do a lot togeather families can.If your sim invites a friend on a community lot they can't fish togeather, the friend can't and won't join your sim on the picnic basket or picnic table as there is no ask to join feature. You have to enter testingcheatsenabled true then shift click on the sim to make them an active family member then they can do all that. You then have to go to edit neighborhood and split them up and move them back into their house.

2)There is no go to movie with, game with or concert with. You can however make families go in togeather by pausing and clicking see movie/game/concert at the same time then they all go in togeather. To make friends do this you have to make them part of the active family.

3)No family kiss my families are very affectionate.I hope they bring this back.

4)Female sims getting pregnant without a father

5)Too many rabbitholes.I'd at least like to see families go into the diner and see them while there eating. The bistro only has 2 chairs per table so only 2 people can eat at them at a time not a mother, father and 2 kids.

6)No outings

7)No hottubs

8)No memories Now with game progression I've seen my sims with new aqaitnences in their panel that wasn't there before.I'd like to know were they met them.I'd also like to know who they kissed and wohooed with.Sometimes even married sims find a romantic interest with story progression on when your not playing them so it would be nice to see which one she kisses if both are great kissers.

9)The kiss in bed is bugged.Their lips don't touch. They did in the sims 2.

10)Public makeouts in the theater, science place etc are actually wohoo and when you tell a sim to makeout sometimes they will run out with their pants down. You don't hear no kissing sounds either you just see hearts falling like with wohoo.I'd rather hear kissing sounds.

11)Not enough to do on the beach since you can't even swim in the ocean or sun bathe.

12)Sims like promised can't change their appearence by clicking on them. This would be helpful on the beach so you could change them into sunglasses.

13)Pregnant sims can't change appearence in the mirror.Hopefully the next bigger patch will fix this.

Actually, toddlers do gain social points from playing with each other on either object. I maxed and locked motives and put them on both and they can become best friends before they're children.

I love the game, it has kept me more entertained than the Sims 2 ever did. However there are some annoying things, no such thing as perfection in this world!

- You can't make the novels your sims write buyable in the bookstore. Or at least I haven't figured out how to do it. Other sims can read the books at the library, but that's it. Most of my sims have been eager authors so this really bugs me.

- Lack of things to do together, like some previous poster already mentioned. I would like the sims to fish in a group etc.

- Family dinners are quite impossible since the sims eat very fast. It's way better than the eternity dinners in Sims 2, though, but some kind of compromise between these two would be ideal.

- Lifetime happiness (is that what it's called?) points are too easy to gain. It's way too easy to make super-sims. I just let the points lay because I don't want the sims get every possible reward.

- Work progression is also too fast for my liking. The sims are usually at the top of their career before they are even adults. I keep them part-time jobs halfway through young adulthood because I don't want them to become too succesful too soon.

- There seem to be no boy/girl twins, all twins are the same gender.

Thanks for this thread. hopefully this helps some. But I doubt it. X)

Anyways I guess the only thing annoying is well.
It's not exactly the game but Just annoyed that the store is so pricey and that for the price the furniture's stats are crap.

Post Re: Complaint Department: Got one?
I really like the suggestion of "selecting general aim (career, family)" for the inactive families. It'd make switching between families more workable.

About the "lifetime happiness to easy", "career too easy", etc... what lifespan are you playing with? I'm currently playing with the 90-days lifespan (normal), and I can tell you it's impossible to get a lot of lifetime rewards in that time, and reaching the top of the career is horribly difficult. I very much doubt any of my family members will get there before turning gray. Either that, or I'd have to give up on the kids. Of course, for the longer lifespans, getting to the top of the career and such is very easy; it'd be nice if they made the difficulty rating dependent on the lifespan you're playing with. MATY will probably write a hack for this sooner or later.

About complaints... my largest complaint is that the game is sluggish and lags a lot. My computer is reasonably new. Not the best, but it exceeds the requirements by quite a bit. Still, whenever I move around town, the game lags. Knocking down the settings helped, but if completely getting rid of "moving trees" or "very fancy water" and stuff like that could speed up the game, I'd have loved it. Another minor beef I have with the game is how it retextures the objects every time you zoom in and out. Likewise, every time you zoom in at the town the trees and bushes just "sprout" from the ground. Can't help but wonder if that doesn't consume a hell of a lot of memory and processor speed. I think it might have actually been better if the objects and textures just "stuck". But I'm not a professional programmer, so I don't know for sure.

I miss first and foremost, custom content. I hate being restricted to EA made content only

I miss the landings (those floors that came in OFB that were simmilar to foundations but could be placed inside) I built some amazing houses using that build feature, and not only for landings.

I miss half walls  Why the heck did they take those out??

I miss hot tubs

I miss pets alot, although we just have to wait for those I guess.

For those wanting better control over neighbors it is HIGHLY recommended that you download awesomemod with supreme commander enabled. It gives you the ability to assign tasks(like "collect seeds" "focus on job" "focus on skill" "stay idle") to your sims so when you aren't playing them(or are!) they can continue their skills, collecting, work, etc. It will stay in the queue until you X it out, and anything you queue up will have priority over supreme commander, and sims will maintain their mood as well while under command.

It also allows you to track your sims so you can see what all your families are up to anytime you want. And the BEST of all, it gives you the ability to switch families instantly by just right-clicking the house or the sim you want to change to without any loading! No more "add to household" so your sims friends can do stuff with you. Completely hassle free and makes the game so much more fun to play.

:coolguy:

Whew well thank goodness for this thread!

I think most of it's been mentioned, and I think you all know my issues with the photo album feature by now :shakefist: .

There are a few more on the top of my head...

-Bathing babies and toddlers. I always enjoyed bathing my little sims, actually. Now you can only change diapers to increase hygiene.

-Interactions between toddlers is severely lacking. You can have them play with the same toy, building blocks for example, but they can't fight over a bottle or babble to each other, etc.

-I know you can customize everything but it's really frustrating me. I just want some normal pretty paint colors that I don't have to go in and try to change with that paint pallet.

-I like the idea of a thriving, progressing town but it goes kind of fast and I miss things if I want to play a different household. Memories would be really helpful.

It's funny, but when I was trying to think of something to say on this topic, I couldn't actually think of anything. I guess I don't have any major complaints. I have a couple of minor complaints ... no curly hair, no piano, violin or drums despite music being one of the game's careers. I heard there was a weird bug when toddlers watch TV sometimes their bodies get all scary and deformed-looking, but I haven't experienced this myself.

I'd love boats to go to the lighthouse island, or pets other than fish. These might come later in EPs. I'd love to see another majorly-cool neighborhood one day that's as interesting as Sunset Valley (I'm not really impressed with Riverview now that I've played it).

I haven't experienced any sluggishness or lagging like NekaraNef said. I suspect it might be his/her computer, not the game.

If you buy a doll house and have them join play their interact with one another and build up a relationship and they will do the same with a child and a toddler.

The thing that frustrates me most about TS3 are the speed options. In TS2 the 'Ultra Speed' was super fast & really convenient, you could just speed right through boring stuff, or use it to build relationships faster. For TS3 the Ultra Speed is completely lame, it's not fast at all!

There is a way around the family dinners.Type in testingcheatsenabled true then lower both their hunger sliders to low.You may have to do this while their eating also.It keeps them at the table longer. It's still a pain thou.

Another thing I don't like is that if sim families have a picnic table outside and a table inside after grilling one will take the food inside and one on the picnic table. This also happens if you have a table inside and stools at a island. One sim may sit on the stools the other the table. This was a bug in the sims 2 that was never fixed and it's back in the sims 3.

A few of my complaints. Regardless of these I still think the Sims 3 is Legend
1. There is no piano! -i don't see why they didn't have one in the game, they even had one in the sims 2
2. When my sims age up their hairstyle changes to the one their mother has. so i have to constantly change it back to how it was before. - maybe that is their genetic hairstyle? i'm not sure, but it's really annoying and time consuming.
3. Their are no Pets. i know it will be a future expansion pack but if a Holiday Expansion is being released in November then we may not get any Pets untill 2010!!
