Post Re: C'est Paris!
I'm thinking EA might have been better off picking non-realistic locations. When they say "Hey! we'll be making China, Egypt and France for your sims" they will disappoint and insult many people because they expect it to be such. They bit off more than they can chew to be honest. I'm not expecting a brick in the road to be the same brick in life or anything, but there is suppose to be some reality to it. The problem is a lot of people will think some locations are what they've seen on tv or movies. If that were true, then Texas is a desert with cowboys and cattle farms. Anyone who has half a brain knows that what they hear or see on tv or whatever outlet. Unless it's facts from people who have been there or live there, it likely is blown out of proportion.

I noticed an elder was taking a picture of his wife in the background and the fountain is pretty.I just hope they opened up the resturent rabbitholes cause I want to see my sims eating in them while on vacation.Regarding pictures I hope we get them in large sizes for hanging on the wall.I also hope they have bought back poses.

I highly doubt this is the finished product. Looks more like something quickly thrown together in 5 minutes just for the purpose of showing something or its a very early version.

Of course it will never look actually like Paris, The Sims isnt the type of game where it could be pulled off in a functioning manner.

For me even if those two buildings are kept in the Paris neighbourhood in my opinion they sort of fit the vibe already. Leaves more time spent on other areas. Of course that doesnt mean i would be happy if there were no new community building additions.

I still think they haven't been done building Paris yet. I really feel they JUST got eiffle tower done.

I'm not really surprised. The problem is that these screenshots are our teasers, and if they're crappy teasers and this is what they're deciding to show to us, I don't know how we can't expect it to suck. It looks plain and boring, and it's marketed off for romance.

It looks like they're just sitting off in a field in a normal neighbourhood, but with a pointy little toy in the background and slightly altered fountain. Even though I didn't expect too, too much interaction about France, I at least hoped they would make up for it with some French extravagance. Oh well. EA is EA.

Mitchmacca is probably right. maybe its been slapped together for the shot - although to stop us moaning you woulda though they'd try a little harder!!

Lets hope thats just the tip of the tower seen over a hill (with a park) And there is a nice city below :]

I was hoping the kiss they would do on the bench was the one on the coverart now it looks like the one on the cover is probebly just a render and won't be in.I would also like to see what the inside of the catacombs in France will look like and I hope they show more pictures of France.

Why do I have a feeling that the Eiffel tower will just be a neighborhood decoration. Like the power plant or whatchacallit on the hills outside of SV? Oh, EA...

I can't imagine what else they'd do with the Eiffel tower.. I doubt they'd let sims interact with them but, I hope you can at least view it and it'd be really cool to take a picture of with a camera and post at the home your sim getting married in front of it. What else are they going to have with France other than romance and the Eiffel tower.. EA

I personally adore France but, I can't see my sims visiting it for "Fun" .. it'd be a great honeymoon but what will be there...

Offtopic: Sharkloverplay, You always only seem to be interesting in romantic interactions and stuff... No offense! :L
I saw one of your other posts of interactions you wanted and ALL of them were romantic ones..

I never expected EA to make the tower anything other than a neighborhood decoration. I mean yes you can go up it in real life... But taking a famous phrase from swat and larku - this IS EA. They will settle for less. And i'd much rather just look at the tower than go up it anyways... Too much EFFORT!!
I just hope that it is in the heart of a city place.. And PLEASE PLEAS PELASE let there be new rabbit holes.. or even better - take rabbitholes out and let me BUILD MY OWN restraunt... Or maybe htey should even have a rabbithole builder if they refuse to let us go inside important buildings...

I'll hold off judgment, it's only one picture to go by.

My initial thought though is......well not much. Didn't really make me go "I CAN'T WAIT!!!!" it was just more like..."meh'

It's all a render by the looks of it, but it's still very poor in detail and will continue to give people the wrong idea. I'm hoping EA might prove me wrong, but I honestly don't think they will do much for it except a countryside look. They are aiming for cozy romantic it seems.

It's a bit disappointing because Egypt actually does look exciting with the tomb building and mummies. I'm sure China will add some new things too...but this Paris (judging from the one pic) just looks like Sunset Valley as someone already said.

I was really hoping Paris would be like a downtown, metropolitan area. I know that's a lot to ask from EA, but I guess it was just hope.

It's not just the title. Many have refered to it as Paris, and there have been numberous posts in this thread of people complaining that it's not accurate to Paris. I mean, there have been pictures of Paris posted (yay alliteration).

That is from EA's store for the expansion pack. One would expect it to be somewhat accurate since they clearly state famous landmarks and rich culture. It is EA though, they tend to take back what they say.

Catacombs for your sims to explore and I think the wine thing is there were your sims learn to make wine with grapes.

I think EA is not lying. They tell the truth and fulfilling their promises.

It is us who should be blamed, since we develop our own fantasy and complain for everything that didn't match with our wild fantasy.

In Egypt, there's tombs and pyramids. EA doesn't lie.

In China, there's martial arts. EA doesn't lie.

In France, there's rich culture and famous landmarks. EA never say anything about bring Paris to TS3, it just the landmark. EA doesn't lie.

BUT EA IS VERY DISAPPOINTING.
