 Re: apartments?
The thing with stuff packs is that you get "stuff", not added gameplay. They'd have to make another EP in order to add the apartment feature. They just mean you can make your house look like a modern apartment. This is also specified when they say... Quote: Now your Sims can give their homes an ultra-modern makeover! ...which basically just means you can give your already built homes makeovers.

Stuff packs always just add stuff, no gameplay.

 Re: apartments?
I think that the store will contain items that don't change anything in the gameplay and stuffpacks contain new items whereof some come with special animations (e.g. the heartbed), but no major changes to the game. So, my guess is we will see stuffpacks like M&G rather then K&B.

 Re: apartments?
thats exactly wat i was hoping for..... but since the only one i can think of is M&G that came with some animations i dontthink its gonna be possible.....unless that TS3 SPs come with a little bit of new animations but not enough to call it an EP

 Re: apartments?
I saw that too. I know it's unlikely, but maybe they will release a game update the same day as the SP is released that allows us to have real apartments. I mean, they did say they would be releasing free game updates that come with new features.
It's a stretch, but I can hope!

But didn't past Sims 3 updates always just include patchs before? The latest one even included Gameplay. It's possible that a bare feature of apartments is being added (I wouldn't bet on it but it seems possible) I suppose Ea do have a history of saying things in ways to make us think something happens when it doesn't. But if apartments aren't being added can't EA see how this will obviously be taken the wrong way?

 Re: apartments?
Technically, there's already apartments in the game. Just look at the buildings over by the hospital in Sunset Valley, where the Friends and Roomies families live (I think that's their names).

Or like a set of suites. I did like apartments and how you could live in one part of the house but a character you couldn't control lived in another part of the house. I lived in dorms for a good part of my recent life, so I guess it made me feel nostalgic. But I doubt this new pack is going to add the ability to live with non-played characters.

I wish EA had either made them into proper apartments, or not done them at all (I guess I'll just have to wait for the Apartment Life EP for Sims3 and give them a makeover:-)

 Re: apartments?
I've just remembered how back in March 08 when we saw the first screenshots I was overly excited about a shot of the grocery store - I thought that it was a store only on the ground floor, and the other floors would have apartments. Now that I think about this, it does sound pretty awesome, apartments would work great with sims 3. Although I don't see them coming with a stuff pack, because they are a rather huge feature.
