Yeah, me too, although I love all the foods (minus bean sprouts) on that list so I'm screwed either way. That's why I wash my veggies before I eat them

PETA made a petition and tried to get as many people as they could to sign it to send to the US Fish and Wildlife Service to officially change the word "fish" to "sea kittens" because people would be less likely to want to eat a "sea kitten" than a "fish" :indifferent: It's is SO pathetic that it's funny

That is, if you're talking about a goldfish. But I can't really think of any other fish that is flushed down the toilet when it dies, rather then being eaten by something.

How embarassing i'd rather not have the Sims associated with these people. A few years ago on the news they threatened a medical lab which uses mice for testing, and went to the extremes of digging up the managers dead mother to make a point! :Astonished:

Yeah I meant a goldfish. I think most other fish might be too big to flush down the toilet.
Teehe imagine someone trying to flush a shark down the toilet.

Yet they have the nerve to protest against pounds for putting to sleep animals if they can't be adopted out, and tell people that if you buy a puppy from a breeder or pet store, you are killing animals in shelters. Hypocritical fucks

I never knew much about PETA, and I didn't really care to find out much about them. I figured they were just another "meat haters" group or something. But thanks to Sims 3 and this thread, I am now a PETA hater. Not because of thier beliefs, but because of thier epic fail as a human being and thier awsome hypocritical nature

This topic is horribly off-topic... but I like it.

My friends and I "sponsor" vegetarians and PETA members when we got to Chinese food buffets. We name the person we want to sponsor, then proceed to eat as much meat in their honor as possible.

I think that PETA giving the Sims an award is more of a shame then an honor. :yuck:

Well, to bring the thread back on topic:

I thought PETA giving that award to The Sims was hilarious. I quite literally laughed when I heard about it. In the game you can murder your Sims in several horrible ways BUT YOU WOULDN'T WANT THOSE SIMS EATING BURGERS! THAT'S MURDER! Apparently, people-murder in games is OK.

The thing about PETA is that they are so extremist, they even anger other animal rights groups, and normal, sane animal lovers (like me).

Hey, if they're not gonna eat the meat, someone has to. How dare they let the meat of the the animals who gave their lives to feed us go to waste

Thank God your weird American groups don't span out through various countries. We have the RSPCA - Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Who actually encourage adoption of pets, they take in baby animals like kittens and puppies and sell them in vet offices, already pre-microchipped, registered and desexed.

PETA is in other countries. It isnt just an American group, it is a world wide organization... they have main offices in London, Germany and India as well as various field offices all over the globe.

One story I read that really ticked me off, was about a clothing store they vandalized in france because they had clothing made from wool, and other animal furs. They smashed in all of the store windows, and then took PIGS BLOOD they bought from a BUTCHER and splashed it on all of the clothing. Destroyed the persons lively hood, and then went on raving about how great a thing it was they had done.

Heh, PETA so needs something to complain about, that they went after our president and called him a savage and monster because he swatted at a fly which was buzzing around his head on camera. They made a huge deal out of it, and said it was showing just how cruel he was as a person.

In America we also have the SPCA, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, http://www.aspca.org/

It is a great group going about things properly to ensure animals are treated well and rescued from dangerous conditions. I have volunteered for a few SPCA groups, and all my pets have come from their shelters which have NO-KILL rules. Meaning they keep the animals for as long as it takes to get them adopted. I donate a few bucks here and there when I buy my pet supplies from Petsmart or Petco, whenever I can afford a few extra dollars.

Yeah, PETA isn't the only animal rights group in the United States. Two respected groups are the Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Humane Society. There are others, too. PETA is just the extremist, nutty version of the SPCA.

I believe they actually are virtually the same - and maybe even work together in some ways??

I don't really care for PETA. Some of their work is okay, for example their protest of the local KFC because of the grotesque conditions for the chickens. They even bought a plot in the same cemetary as Colonel Sanders to put up a monument for the chickens he killed. I'm not sure the cemetary let them do it though.

I have problems with many aspects of factory farming, horse racing, the fur trade, etc. PETA does go to the extreme though.

Holy crap I had no idea they attempted to do that! That is so unbelievably disrespectful  When that horse-faced PETA bitch dies, I'm gonna go sit on her grave and eat a big juicy steak just because of that :shakefist:

I'd like an invitation to that steak sit-down, Ingrid Newkirk was the worse thing Britain did to America.
