We say 'couldn't care less' here, too. I suspect ours is the original and the American non nonsensical version developed from it, as they both appear to have the same meaning.

I am english and i think couldn't care less is normalerer.
Americans also say 'I'll be a couple minutes' and it should be 'I'll Be a couple OF minutes'

I went on an american exchange program, and i asked my exchange partner what cell phone meant and she didn't even know.

Mobile ALSO makes so much more sense, becuase it is MOBILE and you can take it around with you :P
