 Re: System Requirements Discussion
Would this system be sufficient to play Sims 3?
Intel Pentium Processor E5400 2.7GHz 6GB PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM Intel GMA 3100 Windows 7(64bit)
Pretty sure the processor and memory is sufficient, not sure about the integrated graphics? Thanks.

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
Well, as long as it's NVIDIA and above the number 8000-models, it will work well.

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
I've actually run The Sims 3 on my computer before. It was slow, barely playable, and the graphics were glitchy looking. I'm planning on upgrading my computers RAM soon from 1 GB (1024) to a full 2 GB. With that in my mind, could I run Sims 3 more successfully? I've run the System requirements lab tool, and supposedly I pass everything except the RAM speed and the graphics card (even though each individual part of the graphics card passes, the card as a whole fails for some reason.) I have in the past successfully run games that the System Requirements tool tells me I shouldn't be able to. The Sims 2, for instance, works perfectly fine.
I really want to get The Sims 3, and I'll probably end up chancing it and buying the game after I upgrade my ram. What do you guys think of my chances of running it well?
HP Pavilion dv6345us Mobile Intel 945gm Express Chipset Family (SRL says my RAM, Pixel Shader, and 3D are okay, but the card still fails.) Windows Vista 1gb RAM, but like I said I'm upgrading to the max of 2GB
Anything else I need? What do you guys think of my chances?

Anything else I need? What do you guys think of my chances? With Vista, the RAM requirement is 1.5GB, so as of right now you are under the requirement so of course this would cause the game to be very slow or possibly not work at all. Also, I've heard nothing but bad things about Mobile Intel Chipset cards and The Sims 3, so you would definitely have to upgrade that. Some people's games just wouldn't work at all. Upgrading RAM is definitely needed though. I went from 1GB to 4GB on my old computer and the speed increase was impressive. That quickly made me realize how important RAM can be. My new computer came with 4 gigs out of the box, but I plan to add 16 gigs, just for fun

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
Mmm...let's see now... Memory: 2GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT Processor (don't really understand what mine means ): AMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual Core Processor 5000+, MMX, 3DNow (2CPUs) I can't see where to check the GHz? It doesn't say next to "Processor". ..oh well. I can play sims3 all on high, very smoothly. Recently, it's started to lag, though I suspect I need to defragment my pc...or delete some of my cc *cries*

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
Right, I can't find any decent laptops with 2.4ghz or more as a processor, is it possible that a dual core processor with less than 2.4ghz will still play the game? I can't spend too much money on it and I want to get a good laptop for as little as possible.

I've got a laptop with dual core 1.80GHz(which makes the total twice as that as it's two processor cores) so I wouldn't worry, unless it's something like 1GHz or something of the like.

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
I have a Hp Pavillion dv9700 notebook pc
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00GHz
CPU Speed: 2.00 GHz Performance Rated at: 3.2 GHz
4.0 GB of RAM
OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition Service Pack 2 (build 6002), 64-bit
Video Card: GeForce 8600M GS
Video RAM: 2.2 GB
Pixel Shader version: 4.0
I checked "Can You Run It?" and I passed, but it said the same thing about Sim City Societies and that game couldn't surpass the installation stage.

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
Your computer is WAY too good, it must be a harddrive problem or something, as installation is only putting the game on your computer, not actually playing it.

Once, I fully installed The Sims 2 and it kept crashing! So I'm a little scared of what The Sims 3 would do. What could I do to prevent the game from crashing like The Sims 2?

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
Right click the shortcut, click properties, click the 'compatibility' tab and check 'run this program in compatibility mode for:' and choose 'Windows XP (SP3)'.

Do I do this only when I'm installing and playing the game? Or can I just keep it on compatibility mode all the time? There is just Windows XP (SP2) there is no (SP3).

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
After you've finished installing the game, right-click on the icon on your desktop and do what Erhama told in the posts above. XP SP2 should be fine, as long as you make sure you've checked one of the XP boxes.

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
It should... if it doesn't, post any error messages that pop up and we should be able to sort it out.
