All these anti-Twilight quotes make me happy AMGIQ wrote: edit: so vampires can die by "thirst" so im guessing blood, butdoes that mean that they have to turn people into vampires whenever there thirsty? Going by traditional vampire rules, vampires can "feed" and they can "embrace". Embrace is what turns others into vampires. Feeding is just them taking blood without the side effects Aside from the not dying in the sun, I'm pretty happy with the way vampires are turning out for Late Night

ooh "embrace" and just "feeding" sound cool, hopefully these will both be in the game, but i had asked grant rodiek about that, and he actually replied to me saying that there was going to be three differnt way to quench the vampires thirst, feeding off a sim, plasma fruits, and plasma packs

did twilight vampires die in the sun.? Well in the original story of Bram Stokers Dracula IIRC sunlight was not fatal and only took away his powers. Nosferatu was the one that could not walk into the sun. But yes, you can still use the term nocturnal for them since they are still up at night.

Re: do you think they might possibly be bringing vampires ba
I think they brought vampires back to Late Night because of Twilight. Twilight/vampires are a current trend and it only makes this expansion more lucrative. After reading some of the answers Grant Rodiek gave on twitter I think it can easily be concluded that the vampires were directly influenced by Twilight. Let me quote the Twitter event info galore! thread.IggyJD03 wrote: 4) Vampires dont die from sunlight. They get blisters and lost their powers for a while. 5) Vampire powers include mind reading. 6) Vampire kids have to go to school. Lola001 wrote: Q: what special powers do vampires have? A: They can read minds, hunt others, and become super powerful very quickly. I don't think you can blame them however. EA have departments dedicated to looking at market trends and research. Twilight is telling them how vampires are to be done.

That bit about vampires being able to read minds made me cringe a bit. That was obviously borrowed from a famous 'vampire'.

The Vampires not dying from sunlight isn't really a Twilight thing, how they put it sounds more like a Dracula thing. Twilight is only the first I know of to have Vampires sparkle in the daylight. The mind reading could obviously be though. I'm wondering how this will be in the game Maybe see what a Sim does before they do it?

Re: do you think they might possibly be bringing vampires ba
But Jake, someone asked if the vampires were influenced by Twilight and the person from EA said no..so I'm gonna go with it still being a no. Yes I'm sure because of the popularity of Twilight and all things vampires these days it pushed them to include them again, but I don't get the impression that they were directly inspired by the Twilight vampires. They probably took their ideas from a bunch of vampire ideas and maybe came up with some of their own?

Re: do you think they might possibly be bringing vampires ba
What H.O.W said. In the original Dracula movie, he could walk in the sunlight. And let's face it, Dracula was probably the first big vampire movie. Can't go wrong with a classic
There are many other situations where vampires were able to go into the sun as well. Look at Vampire Hunter D, which is a popular anime among fans, though old now. D could go in the sun, but it weakend him and he could only really survive in it for so long. Then you have situations where the older the vampire, the stronger he became and could withstand the sun
As for vampire kids going to school, this is completely new. In Sims 2 you couldn't even have vampire kids, unless you used cheats, but doing so could make the kid become bugged (I know from experience). This time around, there's a chance a kid could be born a vampire from a vampire parent. Seeing that there is no "home school" option, they would 'have' to still go to school. There's just no current way around this, so of course they still made them go to school
And as for gaining strength or powers quickly? They're freakin vampires. ALL vampires are like that in pretty much ALL vampire related things. There's such a vast amount of vampire powers out there, anything from movies or books are only the tip of the ice berg. You should see the animes and RPGs where things get really insane
As for the whole hunting of others? I have no idea what they might mean by that. And I still have no idea how "mind reading" would work in a sims game

Mind reading is probably an ability that reveals all of the sims favourites, traits, job, and partner.

Re: do you think they might possibly be bringing vampires ba
Mind reading vampires were around long before Twilight. The vampires in Anne Rice's novels were able to read the minds of humans. That was how the good ones were able to determine who was a murderer or evil doer.
I would have liked a glamour interaction which would temporarily raise the LTR with a sim, for an hour or so which would permit you to easily complete opportunities that require you to befriend a sim.

Re: do you think they might possibly be bringing vampires ba
I bet they are! These vampires might as well be called twilight vampires because it looks like EA jumped on the bandwagon too. I knew this was going to happen, they were going to turn these vampires into emotional p***y's, instead of keeping them as actual vampries like in the sims 2. I can not wait until Twilight is over I will be jumping for joy the series has gone on too long. All the things that were revealed sounds too twilight for me, I'm certain they decided to do this for Twilight fans. If even one of my sims is turned I'd probably cut their ties with whom ever turned them, find that potion and wala! Back to normal for them.

They don't sparkle in the sun like little fairies. They also drink plasma (which is red) and they can read minds (and iirc, lots of other vampire stories have this as well). This doesn't sound like twilight to me so what makes you think that they're going to be twilight vampires? Although I do agree that not dying in the sun is a little bullshit but there are other vampires (other than twilight that does this); this version of the vampires seems very original and I do believe that EA wanted to create their own kind of vampires. Edit: Equus I saw your reasoning in another thread and I am going to have to agree with Akadai on what he said.... He tends to speak my mind for me these days .

Re: do you think they might possibly be bringing vampires ba
You'll have to bear with me here, anything that I feel even remotely reminds me of Twilight sends me into a rant, I have some serious issues with this series that it would take too long for me to explain, all I can say is I hate it, with a passion. That runs very very deep...It may seem too far, but thats how it is for me.
I know very well that other vampries have done have done it, but seeing as Twilight is still fresh on everyone's mind and people keep saying vampires should act that way, it goes directly to it. With the vampires in the sims 2 I didn't feel anything that reminded me of Twilight about it, but now it really feels as if they are trying to appeal to the masses of Twilight fans. Jumping on a badnwagon because thats whats in for vampires to be: emotional dead people with feelings who don't have the heart to drink blood from a human so they'll drink from animals. Yes I know you don't drink from animals in Late Night.
Vampires are scary, monster's, do the vampires in Late night feel scary or intimidating to anyone here? 'Cause I know I certainly didn't feel it. All this seems very "twilight" like in my opinion, or better yet, the type of vampires I don't like.

Re: do you think they might possibly be bringing vampires ba
Your hate for Twilight does seem to run pretty deep, deeper than mine and yea, Twilight is the most vampire related thing that comes to recent memory unfortunately, but that's not really EA's fault. LN is also coming out in Oct, which is a good time for halloween related things. Vampires are one of the popular costumes during that holiday As for vampires being scary monsters, that's mostly up to the vampires them selves really. They can be scary when they want to. Obviously the scare level is going to be pretty low for a Sims game. They're not going to be able to go around and rip people apart. It's mostly up to you on how you want them to be Like I wonder if a vampire can drink a sim to death? That would be cool... then I can turn a sim into a vampire, and starve him in a room, and stick some other sim I don't like in there and see what happens Or you can trap a sim and make them your prisoner as a feeding doll Heck I had a witch sim in TS2 that didn't seem scary at all. She looked really sexy and seemed pretty nice. Then she'd invite you inside and lead you to the room with the cowplant only to have you get eaten so she can stay young abit longer, disappearing forever in her house of horror I'm sure there's plenty of ways to make a vampire scary, it all depends on your imagination and how well you role play things, part of the fun of The Sims
