 Re: System Requirements Discussion
Hi :) It's been a really long time, since I'vebeen on here last ... But I'm back now :)
Well, I'm considering buying this All-In-One PC, and I know it will be able to run the Sims 3, but I'm hoping for a computer that will run it smoothly, with hopefully high settings (my current computer is lagging at low/medium settings, and that's with basegame alone).
Heres the specs (I don't know what you need, or not - so I sut posted roughly it all):
General Spec Processor Intel Core i5 650(3.2GHz) Processor Main Features 64 bit Dual Core Processor Turbo Boost Technology up to 3.46GHz Cache Per Processor 4MB Cache Memory 4GB DDR3 1333 Hard Drive 1TB SATA Optical Drive 1 8X DVD-SuperMulti Double-Layer Drive Graphics Intel HD Graphics Audio High-Definition Audio Support Built-in Microphone Ethernet Gigabit Ethernet LAN

Thank you in advance :)

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
That highly exceeds the minimum specs, so yeah, I'd say it's good.

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
The official system requirements for The Sims 3 base game are as follows:
FOR WINDOWS XP
2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent 1 GB RAM 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 The latest version of DirectX 9.0c Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games
FOR WINDOWS VISTA / 7
2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent 1.5 GB RAM 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games
For computers using built-in graphics chipsets under Windows, the game requires at least: Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA 3-Series or above 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent 0.5 GB additional RAM
Please note these are just for the base game, and although EA haven't increased it for Expansion Packs, I would personally recommend around double those requirements for an enjoyable experience.

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
I'm afraid to say that it probably won't be able to run TS3, or many other games, on max settings. The graphics card is integrated to the motherboard, and is a fairly old model. D:

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
Yeah, that won't work. 4Gb is okay, but if you expect to have it for a few years, you'd want at least 8.

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
8GB is a waste of money for most users. Most programs and games are coded in 32 bit, so it can only use a maximum of about 3.5gb of RAM (if using a 64 bit OS) and well, very few games and programs use more than 2gb (that's the maximum a 32 bit OS can allocate to a process). Unless you're going to do video editing in HD, play 2 games at once or have every single program on your computer running while you're playing TS3, 4GB is definitely enough.
If I was you, I'd look for something with a dedicated graphics card. Something recent and mid-range will be suffice, I think. I'm gathering you're looking at like, a mini PC. Those won't be able to run the game very well because they often come with an integrated graphics card. If you show me where you're looking at, maybe I can help? If it's in Swedish, I can probably figure it out because it can't be that different from Norwegian can it? Haha.

 Re: System Requirements Discussion
I recently gutted two computers and reapplied all parts as to give myself a better motherboard, and a gig of extra ram (7GB(don't ask)-->8GB). I haven't gotten around to it but do you think Sims will run any nicer?

How does this sound? I really appreciate any help. Well, you've got 16GB RAM, 64 Bit OS and a 1GB dedicated video card. More than acceptable to play Sims 3.

Thanks for your help. I was worried about the Video card, wasn't sure if it was good enough.
