I won't throw a shoe at you, I'd rather throw it at the game
I'm definitely going to remove the secret door at The Keep. It was a fun idea, but no biggie! I'll take a look at the routing over by The Blue Moon, those are some super strong shrubs! The cause of the funky tiling is from replopping the lot down. It seems to do that often with lots that dip into water. Haven't been able to reproduce the issue at The Underground, but I'll keep a look out. Did it happen after the club closed, and were other sims stuck too or just your sim? The Underground is definitely my fav club!
And kattenijin at MATY fixed Coconut Castle! Commence basement lounge area!

When I sent my sim to The Underground, there was no other sims and the dance club had just opened. T__T Just my lonely sim. There was not even a mixologist. I guess the game had yet to produce one because it was early in the game. I didn't populate the island. I was letting the game do that for me this time because I wanted to check everything out^^. But yeah, I haven't had that issue since then and I haven't seen any other sims get stuck there. So I guess it might have been because I had just started the game. Whatever it was, it seemed to have straightened itself out.
Great news about Coconut Castle! I'm really looking forward to seeing that lounge area^^

The lounge at Coconut Castle,
Spoiler:
I really want to map tag it as a lounge, but then I'd have to make another museum, and I like that this lounge is in the basement of a museum. Hmmm!

Re: Coconut Island 3.0 BETA! *Updated Jan 22 2011*
Just a little pop to say I got a functional firestation.
I built it on the Grassy plot B on Barbary island. My sim could register via the computer, went to work next morning (I had to sent him manually since there is no carpool). On 1 pm, the alarm went on to signal a fire at the Breezy bungalow (1 Panhandle dr.). He ran through the dunes, did his job and ran back to the firestation. He didn't use any subway station.
I remember that when I built a firestation in another world a couple of month ago, it took me some time to get it to work properly. In fact, I kept forgetting to put some of the key elements the game expect to find there. So, as long as everything is not in place, the sims can't take a job there. For once, the game performs a check!
You have to put the long parking place (buy mode/vehicle) + the fire truck (buy mode/buydebug menu/ misc) + the fire alarm (at least one, found in build mode/community). And tag the lot as a fire station, of course. The fire truck and the alarm must be accessible for maintenance and upgrade.
The rest is optionnal, but it's nice to put some bed for your workmates (4 were generated when my test sim registered), a bathroom, a fridge, some athletic equipments, and (loads of) fun activities.
For the rest, it's as nice as usual . I've made a party animal/mixologist as test sim to spent most of his time in the bars and clubs. I've only visited the Keep and The Red Baron so far. I very much like the new red baron, but I would enlarge a little bit the bar area in the basement. There is only 1 'empty' tile to walk along the bar, and if ever the place had to be a hotspot, I foresee a lot of feet stomping there! Additionally, I would remove one piece of counter, so the sims have 2 entrance points to get behing the bar. Because they always end up chatting where the mixologist should stand. Then the other sims get mad because they are not served/ they are starving.

You rock Bella! Now to figure out where to put the fire station... I might use the generic community building in Coconut Village, but I'd rather find room to put it in The Dunes for a more central location. Plus I want it to look sort of like a ranger tower.
Here's the Red Baron expansion,
Spoiler:
Thanks for that, it's now even better.
The release will definitely be pushed into late February. I have obligations to attend to in the beginning of the month that won't allow me any time to work on the island for about a week or two. Boo!!
If you guys would like to help me speed up the process a smidge, want to make some sims/families? I have some minor requirements to tell the "story" of the world...
Spoiler:
Coconut Village - very family oriented(lots of kids, elders, etc), love for outdoors and gardening, darker skinned, Very vibrant clothing! Lots of bright oranges, pinks, blues, greens, etc (don't go crazy with the colors, like pairing neon green pants with a hot pink shirt Mix them in with earthy tones) Stoney Port - Eclectic mix of young adults who came to Coconut Island to party their days and nights away. Barbary Island - Older sims(adults) that have a more elite/snobbish attitude. Their kids should be sort of the same way personality wise. The Dunes - a mix between Stoney Port and Coconut Village.
Who wants to contribute? No CC please, and put your name or alias in the bio for credit You're more than welcome to make as many sims/families as you like!

Re: Coconut Island 3.0 BETA! *Updated Jan 22 2011*
Very nice expansion of the Red Baron's bar!
To be 200% perfectionnist/pathing obsessive/nitpicky, I would remove a few things: the 3rd bar seats and an arcade machine, for better 'flow' of the sims' pathing; some of the ceiling bottle racks, and some of the bar seats, to allow party sims to dance on counter
For the fire station, the Dunes is indeed the most central zone of the world. Now, you just have to find a place!
I'll try to take advantage of my testing of Coconut (no no I don't play I just test... pffft ) to create a few sims. For the CC, did you use Riverview? If not I'll remove it from my DCcache.

Re: Coconut Island 3.0 BETA! *Updated Jan 22 2011*
Yeah, I have the riverview stuff. That's fine with me! You're thinking of those overalls aren't ya?
I'll think about your little nitpicking I see there... I think I'd cry a little losing the cramped feeling even more, haha. I'll remove the bar stools at the high top tables so Sims can dance on it. But that's it for now! Ok, MAYBE also the Arcade...
Oh! Some extra details for the sims: lots of bare feet and sandals. Try to avoid using shoes. Also, think about the heat and dress them with loose clothing(flowy/airy), or in just a bathing suit! I bet those party animals at Stoney Port would be in their bathing suits 24/7! Actually, I don't think you can put a sim in a bathing suit for the everyday outfit. Lame. That's about it, I won't restrict you any more! haha.
Offtopic: Did you see someone else "souped" the Sims community? Lulz. It must be soup season. It is pretty cold out there! I feel bad for the girl, they hounded her on CC and then she just snapped... http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/331990.page

Yessss I was thinking about the overall piece of clothing for gardeners, although a more colorful version of it!
Iggy, it's your world, you know you do not have to follow every very nitpicky suggestion I make, don't you? Same with whatever sims I succeed to create, you'll be free to tweak them and change anything you want with them.
My tester sims already meet you requirements, lot of bare feet/sandals, swimsuits... It just feels 'right' in Coconut It's possible to give them bathing suit for everyday clothes, with cheat codes: something like unlockalloutfits, or disable clothing filters. I should check the exact cheats because I haven't used them in a while. The only thing is that they will revert to standard clothes if you try to plan outfit/edit them without activating the cheats, and when they age.
Offtopic: New souping? No I didn't see. Actually I must have 'unlurked' on the official forum to post in your thread. Since there is not much need to post there anymore, I don't visit the place much either. Yet, I'll check the link, I always like a good piece of drama EDIT: I've started to read the thread, and it's the old story over again. The creator posted a nice explanation here http://harperwoodscity.tumblr.com/. I feel so sorry for her. I had been wondering, if ever I finish the world I'm trying to put together in CAw, if I would upload to the official forum, to reach a larger pool of beta testers. I think I have my answer: no way. It's pretty sad that things are going like that 'over there', because it's usually the entrance point in the community for new commers to the game. EA should really invest a bit of monney in moderators, their forum offers a sad image.

Offtopic: That thread actually made me laugh, especially the first page, where she's edited the first post to say nobody deserves the world because nobody likes it, followed by about two pages of "What a nice world!" But I can see both sides of the argument, I just think both kinda overreacted a little?
Meanwhile, I am seriously thinking of downloading this world as a nice lesson in world creation for me!

Hello! I'm brand new to the Snooty Sims, but I've followed you every once in a while on the TS3 forums. I'm SO excited I found Coconut 3.0, because I absolutely loves Coconut 2.0.
I would love to submit some Sims for the island (I've been going CAS crazy lately for some reason), although I have one question: When you say they should be darker skinned, do you mean tanned vacation-goers or like native Africans? Which kind of dark skin are we talking about?
Anyway, though, I'm SOSOSOSOSOSSO excited about this, although I know that If I dowload it now, I'll never get around to finishing my current project. So, I'll be lurking and waiting for the finished version. Luckily, I'm patient, so take your time

I need nit pickyness! That's pretty much all that's left at this point. Yours and others suggestions are super important, especially when it conflicts with dancin' on a table! Can't have that!

I think that's an AM cheat, no? Didn't even think about it!

It's all about the details!

yeah, or like the Caribbean islands. The "story" of Coconut Village is that they're descendants of an ancient tribe, while Stoney Port and Barbary Island are home to outsiders who wanted to cash in on island tourism. For the rest of the Island(Barbary,Dunes,Stoney), I'd love to see a diverse group of mainly young adult sims from all around the world. And I'm glad you found me!
Some revisions I have done to several locations! I don't know if you get gigs at the dance clubs, but I included band gear at The Shark Club and The Underground, it felt fitting!
Spoiler:
The Shark Club, turned the lower dance floor into a performance area. Added a spiffy pool as a backdrop that sims can swim in! I also modified some of the textures to throw in more wood. I might of went overboard on the gobo's and effects...lol. The Underground, Added the band gear next to the dance stage, Splash Park, I really love this spot! This is a playground by The Shark Club, The Gazebo, I needed a performance area at this Fusion Lounge, so I added a second level to fit one in. The piano player still uses the ground floor one. I was worried about getting TWO piano players!

Lovely revisions! I especially like the spiffy pool at the Shark Club, great potential for pictures. And the 'floating ducks' at the Splash Park, that's a very cute detail.
I checked the cheats: 'unlockoutfits on/off' is a vanilla game cheat, 'disableclothingfilter on/off' is an AM one.

I have to start off by saying I simply love your worlds. They are amazing! So pretty and detailed. I'm going to wait for the final version of 3.0 to come out but I would be very welcome to make you some families! I don't use CC so don't worry about that. Although, I do use some Sims 3 store bought stuff. Is that a problem? If so I can avoid it. Just have to express my love for this project, and my hopes that you will continue!

I wish I could contribute :( I sop would. I am going to get Ambitions hopefully sometime before this weekend, so maybe that will help. But I think WA is going to be my downfall. I don't really want WA, especially not back to back with anoter EP. But someday, SOMEDAY, I'll be able to do something :D
Re: Coconut Island 3.0 BETA! *Updated Jan 22 2011*
Discovered a lot last night with two problems that I could not fix. The Art Museum Building (forgot the exact name, looks like a castle) has no staircase to the second floor. I tried modifying it both via Edit Town and by having my sim purchase the lot but could not get a staircase or elevator to place within it. Message said terrain was not level but it could not be leveled out. Secondly, there is an odd section of unpainted wall panel in front of the entrance that goes up a few stories which cannot be demolished nor painted over. When trying to fix that I get a message about "homeowner's association does not permit modifications" or some such like that. I guess my sims can zeneport to the second floor but is there any way I could fix this lot? (edited to add location of unpainted wall panel)

Hey guys, popping in to say thanks for the nice comments! I've been able to poke at Coconut Island for about two hours in the past week, made a Watering Hole on Barbary Island,
Spoiler:
For the Art Museum, you guys have an old version of the Castle, it has been fixed since. To make edits after seeing the homeowners error, type in the cheat box "restrictbuildbuyinbuildings off" it's related to level skips thinking it's an apartment building.
In regards with making Sims, I'd like to keep it CC free with the small exception of Riverview stuff. Swat, you could contribute with sims by using base game/LN content. That's no biggie.
has a new watering hole, a fire station(temporary location), revamped museum exhibits and basement lounge, and a bunch of little things here and there that probably go unnoticed.
