Post Confirmed Features in Generations
Hey guys,

So I want to start a thread which lists all of the confirmed features in the upcomming Generations EP. I think that it would be nice to have a list like this so that it's easy to find the information about Generations.

Because it's late at night where I live, I'm going to start the list pretty short for now. So feel free to reply with anymore confirmed features! I'll edit them in since I'm on here pretty frequently. If there are any mistakes, let me know please.

Confirmed Features:

- 2 new traits are rebellious and nurturing. - Gamesradar

- Parents can punish children whether it be timeouts, video game bans, or being grounded. - Gamesradar

- Sleeping bags.

- Ballet (And possibly a dance studio rabbithole? I can see ballet being taught at the school rabbithole).

- New profession added: Baby sitter (running a day care). So other Sims bring by their kids and drop them off and you have to take care of them. As you progress through it, it gets more difficult - you may even have a problem child. They’re going to pull pranks and get in trouble more often. But you make sure that you take care of them like they are your own kid. And as you keep going you will have more and more children and have the ability to manage them.

- Body hair (Has been confirmed as a CAS feature).

- Bunkbeds. There are bunk beds with 1 or two beds. With 1 bed, you can place objects underneath them like sofas or desks. With both beds, they can be used by up to two sims. Kids and adults can use bunkbeds.

- Spiral stairs.

- Teeter totter/seesaw.

- Hop skotch.

- Tree house. There are different treehouses; the castle treeehouse, the spy-treehouse, pirate treehouse, and sci-fi treehouse. Your kids can play pirates, they can drop balloons with water, hang a pirate flag in the tree house, they can sleepin the treehouse, hang out, and do different things in different treehouses.

- Springy play thingy that is like the springy play thingy that toddlers got in one of the sims 2 eps. This is seen in the trailer.

- Sandbox.

- Slipnslide.

- Strollers. These are useable and they help sims travel with their toddlers outside of the house.

- Canes.

- Chemistry set.

- Graduation (no details are given though).

- Prom. They will be able to take their date and go to the prom and they'll take their picture at the school. You can hang these pictures at home on their walls so they can remember this day and how it was like for them. Of course if they got prom king or prom queen – that’s a very special moment for them.

- Children can play make believe as dinosaurs, princesses, etc.

- Children can have imaginary friends that can grow up with them and become romantic love interests.

- The imaginary friend is a new creature in Generations. This creature with fancy pants, different shoes and a glowing light bulb above his head is very interesting. Kids can have them as a friend in their contacts (relationships), but they need to spend a lot of time with their doll. With you’re imaginary friend you can tell jokes or have a pillow fight (!). Thanks to the chemistry kit your friend can stop being unreal.

- Fleshed out weddings (including wedding arch, wedding cake, etc).

- Pranks (such as stink bombs).

- New party types include bachelor/bachelorette parties, teen parties, wedding ceremonies, and graduation parties.

- Entertainment dancers.

- Memories system (not many details are given though).

- Sims can videotape important life events and watch them later on their tv.

- Can stargaze.

- Military and sports themed schools that teens can be sent to.

- Imaginary sims see their sim-friend while they are a puppet and an actual imaginary sim.

- Imaginary sims appear to have their own color

- Only sims with imaginary friends can see them. Switch to a different sim and the imaginary sim becomes invisible

- Imaginary sims can be transformed into real sims, while being an imaginary sim, almost all interactions can be carried out.

- New community playground – many recreational items for kids which includes a slide, climbing tower, sandbox, seesaw, swing and hopscotch field.

- Strollers are fully useable and you can transport young sims from point A to point B

- With pranks, neighbors can call the police if young sims play pranks on them. Parents can punish them.

- Sims can manipulate sinks and water will squirt in others sims face.

- There is a water ride for the Sims. It can be used by the whole family and pool is not required (I’m not 100% sure of this translation)

- Sims can tell scary stories and some may have nightmares.

- Dating returns to the game.

- With the video camera, sims can make videos of themselves and watch them on their tvs.

- There’s no new town in Sims 3 Generations, everything happens in Sunset Valley.

- There are no new rabbit holes, but EA added 10 new lots to place in your town, for example Playground (and where are we suppose to do that?)*

- New types of windows.

- Careers from Ambitions are extended (not entirely sure what this means...)

- If teens have played a trick on neighbors, they can escape the punishment by drinking Ninja Vanish-Potion which they produced in the chemistry kit. (They teleport home)

- The video camera, when using it, you see everything like you’re sim does in the game. Anything that you have recorded will be stored in your inventory and you can watch it later on the tv.

- Our sim dream changes. Different types of stories can affect the way that you’re sim sleeps at night. For example he/she/it heard spooky stories he/she/it will have nightmares. (Story told of course with a flashlight)

- If you’re having a wild party, cops can interrupt it. They’re no real cops, they are just fueling he party with atmosphere only (I'm not entirely sure what this means...usually cops break up parties?).

- Children can go on field trips.

- There are specific boarding schools where you can send off your child elsewhere - you know, outside of your current world. It might be a military school, a sports school, even this kind of a hippie school. They'll have different experiences there and can come over to visit the family and tell them their experiences they made.

- There is a really cool new feature in the catalog. If you have a lot of previous expansions, stuff packs and store content, with all of these items it may be kind of hard to find things. We now have this new filter in the catalog where you click on it and select the icon of what product you want to see.

- You can now woo-hoo in the tre-house and the shower.

Offtopic: What do you guys think you can do with the chemistry set? Will frankensim return?

I read somewhere you can hire an NPC to record things at parties etc, can someone confirm this?

I vote that as on-topic because we're discussing the possible uses for an object. I think that the chemistry set will probably stop at something useful such as a life-potion of some-sorts. I'm also hoping that the chemistry set will require ingredients for some of the more complicated concoctions.

That's an interesting read about the 'camera man' at the parties. It would be great if you could hire someone or at least lend your camera to a friend?

At this site the guy said "Day Care profession", does that mean it might actually be a profession like being a fireman, where you actually need to take care of the toddlers in the city? If so, what will happen when you level up? More kids?

What do you guys think the chance of the chemistry set being able to turn us into a monster is? :)

You guys missed the entertaining dancer too. Sims wikia doesn't classify the imaginary friend as the life state, so what will the life state be? (I think it's the imaginary friend, but still).

I wonder if imaginary friends will have skills and stuff? Will they even be controllable? Or will they be your own personal ghost? (anyone seen that movie about a guy that fall in love with a ghost girl? )

I think they will function like the social bunny, only more in depth. Like you can call them over to play with you on the teeter totter, and you can click on the friend and say "take out trash" or something like that. Because it said you can get the friend to do things for you.

The entertaining dancer I sort of covered with the bachelor parties!

Yeah it is interesting that it was worded like that. I honestly don't want it to be like an ambitions profession because it would just be your sim getting paid to take care of children. I'm hoping that daycares are rabbitholes that you can deposit your toddlers in while the adults are out at work; it would be a place where your toddlers can learn new skills and make friends and a daycare would be more expensive than a babysitter.

I don't think that the chances are high. This EP doesn't seem like it's going to come with anything super-natural. But I'll stand corrected if the time comes :) .

I really don't like the ambitions profession, it is too hard to multitask imo. Like if you got 3 sims, with one being a fireman then all you can do is sit there and stare at him to see if there is a fire.
Then we got the obvious things like that it gets repetitive really quickly and that walking around collecting clues really isn't that fun, and neither is capturing ghosts really. I can really imagine what working at a day care would be like:
Give baby 1 food
Give baby 2 food
Put baby 3 to sleep
Learn baby 4 to walk
:meh:

I really hope that there is more to the imaginary friend than a maid you can play with, because that would be really boring. In fact, I think all life states so far have been pretty lame and way too similar to real sims. Like the mummies are slow as a brick, the simbot is basically a sim that cant swim but never has to shower and vampires are regular sims that live long but cant be out in the sun.

Something that hit me earlier: What will happen if an imaginary friend dies? Ghost imaginary friend? I hope it's announced soon if imaginary friends can be controlled ( like mummies) or if they will be a partner that appears and hangs out with you and helps you clean (like the genie, or that monkey in Sims 1 for console)

Offtopic: My sim is picking up firefighting, but I maxed out handiness and athletics. Does this mean it will take forever to hit 10? (I thought this was a simple enough question to ask here, since we are talking about professions and all). Also, where do you guys upload your videos and pictures for easy viewing?
And while talking about firefighting, I wonder what happens if your imaginary friend catches fire?

I feel like the imaginary friend will be exactly like a ghost that you interact with. I really doubt that the imaginary friends will be controllable but I do know that they will be able to take orders. I'm hoping that you can 'dismiss' or say goodbye to the imaginary friend when you don't want him around anymore.

It says in one of the interviews (source coming) that you can give your imaginary friend a potion making them real.

In my game, strange things like that happen all the time. Like right now, my sim is stuck inside a bar as a bartender. I guess if the imaginary friend can cook, it would be possible for him to catch fire? (what would that look like to other sims anyway?)

I will never get rid of my imaginary friend, imagine how cool it is to have your own guardian angel? :D

I guess you could always make him into a regular sim, then you can move him out or something (imagine an imaginary friend living alone in a house :S )

A new feature is mentioned- boarding schools, military and sports themed schools that teens can be sent to. Assuming this will be the TS3 equivalent of university, even though it probably will be unseen.

From what I can decipher from the interview:
1. New types of school
2. Daycare profession is your sim looking after others kids.
3. Memories system probably just a simplified version of the Sims 2 memories.
4. No weather or seasons.
5. Imaginary friend is the new Life State.

I wonder what the difference will be, if there are any?
I'm guessing the new schools are going to be rabbit holes, but it would kick ass if you could actually see the class room, etc.

I really wish the imaginary friend is a cool life state :<
Anyone found anything about whether adult sims can get imaginary friends?

Okay, translating that page didn't do much for me since internet translating = bad idea. Obviously there are translation errors. So I'm really not keen on adding everything from that article to the list because I really can't understand it all. And if we're all ball-parking guesses, I don't want to give people false-hope if we're wrong.

lestrange, since you found the article; are you fluent in the original language it was written in? Because if you are, I'll have no problem adding the new features to the original post if you can give a proper translation of it. I'm not saying translate the whole thing, just the important bits  .

Well, the question is: will any of them actually be fun in game? Will there actually make a difference what school you go to?

Hopefully we will find out more about the imaginary friend soon. A picture would be cool..

Scryer, where you from? Scandinavia?
