Re: Expansion Pack 4: The Sims 3 Generations
The game seems... alright, from the few minutes I've had exploring it. Some of the new houses are beautiful, EA have really started to perfect their lot building which is nice (and about time). I love, love, love the loading screen and music, it was nice to hear that familiar tune. Not having a manual kind of bugs me, I'm going to have to get in there and try to find everything without it. Plus, I had to 'go about my business' (whatever the hell that means) while the game installed.

I'm pretty sure EA stopped making the manuals to A) Save Paper and B) Move towards more digital manuals and C) Promote Prima Guide (for stupid people who don't know the difference)

Usually when the game's installing, I just spam people on MSN, and after a few minutes, tada~ It's done.

This is a trend with video and computer games -- no manual. Ambitions had a game manual. I believe that Generations didn't have a game manual because there was nothing relevant to put it in - no big features or changes, just a glorified Stuff Pack. I can't tell if that's sarcasm. If it is ignore this. EA announced recently that they would no longer print out game manuals anymore. They're still providing them (digitally) online or something, though. Lol, I wasn't being sarcastic, I was being pissy. I'm kind of disappointed with Generations. I also read the manual when the game is installing, this time I just had to sit and impatiently wait. I played it for the first time last night and found a couple of bugs. One was that two of my sims wouldn't stop showering when their hygiene meter was full, I had to manually cancel it. The second is that the butler disappeared and a new one wouldn't show up. They're not major problems but they're annoying nonetheless.

Re: Expansion Pack 4: The Sims 3 Generations
Having played Generations a few days, some things are really nice but others were sorta a let down. And I've had to use resetsim more in the past few days than I ever had to before. I had a few sims get stuck in a cheering loop after my sims got married under the arch. Then I had a few just get stuck for whatever reason.

Yes! I had two sims standing there clapping for hours after my two sims got married. Poor Gunther Goth pissed himself, which got him out of the loop, but I had to use resetsim on the other one because the clapping was starting to bug me. Also one of my sims somehow got trapped in a fence. She stepped onto the fence and stood there waving at me for ages.

The main weird thing my game has been doing since the update, besides crashing when I try to share a memory, is when I press the space bar to switch sims, it goes the opposite direction that it usually goes.. Interesting.

A warning to anyone thinking of accepting the free holiday for your parent sims. I sent them away on holiday and when my investigator sim returned his lifetime wish tally (for completing cases) had been reset to 0. (It was about 22-24 before he left)

Re: Expansion Pack 4: The Sims 3 Generations
Oops... my adult sim is on the vacation thing right now. She's already achieved her LTW though. The game did sell her kenspa which pissed me off. Some notification came up saying it'd been sold due to sim death.

Re: Expansion Pack 4: The Sims 3 Generations
I'm majorly disappointed at the moment.
When my parent sims went on that free vacation the teen in the household was going to have a raging teen party and invited loads of his friends. He even asked his girlfriend to the prom at it. (Which he became Prom King a few days later)
The teen party had literally only started when some stupid neighbor called the cops and I had to send everyone away. Of course it meant the party was a duff. :(
Another thing that bugged me was that my child sim missed her ballet recital because it didn't tell me what time it was at, it just said at the appropriate time (or something like that). I made sure to watch the school like a hawk the next time when one of my child sims had a badging ceremony and I managed to send my sim family to that.
My main sim family is huge now. I have a full household of 8 sims. I was only planning for my parent sims to have 5 children (to complete Lola's lifetime wish) however I accidentely ended up with a sixth child. Hmm....
Oh and I've gotten an imaginary friend, and I'll probably have a second one when the youngest grows up from toddler. Those two kids were the only ones born with generations. The other four kids came before generations.

Re: Expansion Pack 4: The Sims 3 Generations
Overall, I'm pretty happy with Generations. Haven't had a single crash or stuck Sim, but I'm playing on a relatively new computer.
Is it just my Sims, or are romantic relationships progressing much faster with this EP? My Sims can go from friends to "Try for Baby" awfully fast now.
A few things are disappointing -- I thought the prom would be fun but it's just another rabbit hole (or did I miss something?). My teen Trinity went and all this stuff happened but I just got messages about it, couldn't see anything. I didn't even get to pick her date for it.
The new Reputation thing seems a little borked. I have two Sims happily married to each other, yet when they make out or woohoo I get a message that "people are starting to talk about them and they might want to tone things down." Huh???? They're married!

They're married! Hey Simstat, Too bad prom is in fact a rabbit hole, but if your teen sim is good friends with another sim (or is going steady with him) she can ask him to prom before it occurs. When she has a date and attends the prom, she will bring home pictures of her and her date dancing together and a crown (if she is crowned prom queen!) This new Reputation system - what you described is alright. I think eventually, it will show that they are faithful to each other and will receive a "Faithful" reputation (or in your case something else that describes their behavior in public ). I received this, and in Lifetime Rewards, you can purchase a new reward that allows you to display affections in public without shame (sorry I forget the name of it!) Hope this helps!

Ilove the good things I am seeing. I am kind of scared sbout the freezing. My pc is kind of new but in the past I had to deal with shutting off. I hope it plays generations well. I have to buy all the games over.

Thing was, she had some friends but went to the prom with a guy that suddenly appeared in her friends list. So I guess.... blind date? Anyway, she had a good time, was crowned queen, yet got in several fights there. Weird. I was just hoping we'd get to pick Sims' dates and would get to see more pictures.

Re: Expansion Pack 4: The Sims 3 Generations
It is strange about the dates. XD I've only sent sims to prom once. I had 3 teens and I managed to get 2 of them a date. The third went to prom solo but then she gained a romantic interest at prom with some kid I don't think she even knew. Not a bad thing though, I needed a guy for her and she actually ended marrying him later on.

Re: Expansion Pack 4: The Sims 3 Generations
Hey Ladybugmommy;
If your computer is new and at times you've had problems with it shutting down, you should look into what wattage your power supply within the computer is and check and see if it's enough to handle the graphics card.
For example, when Sims 2 Seasons came out I had never once had an issue running my game because of my high ends graphics card and high specs. However, after adding numerous expansions and developing in game stuff (lots, etc) the game became too demanding on the computer and would randomly shut down - like the entire computer. Funny to note, the graphics card needed more power to run than my computer had to offer, but never affected my game untill Seasons came out.
I'd suggest looking into that! :) I just bought my new computer and I knew I was gonna get the Sims 3 so I bought a power supply along with the computer and the graphics card.
So many people don't realize this because theres no rhyme or reason to explaining why the computer shuts down randomly while playing some days, and not others. Very tricky.
