 Babies
Just thought I'd put this out there.
My Sims Elizabeth and Ryan have just had baby twin girls!!!!!!!!!!! This has never happened to me before without the use of the life rewards thing (the one that increases the chances of having children and twins etc) for the entire time I've had sims 3 until I installed Generations Just wondered if anyone else had found that they'd had twins for the first time or more multiple births since they had installed Generations.

 Re: Babies
Congratulations! I've unfortunately never managed to have twins or triplets without using lifetime happiness points.. Do you reckon it's an improved chance due to Generations? Or just a random occurrence? I'd love to have triplets genuinely without feeling as though I'm 'cheating'..

 Re: Babies
The first babies born in my game after installing Generations were also twin girls! I gave the mother the "Nurturing" trait, which is the only thing that I can think of that was different. It was quite a surprise because I usually only get multiples with the "Fertility Treatment" LTR.

 Re: Babies
Sorry to break the trend, but some of the first girls I had were twins.. that was a long time ago, so i don't know if i used fertility treatment, but recently, I've gotten twins aswell. I recall another time aswell, don' tknow exactly when, but I remember being like "ARE YOU KIDDING ME, THESE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE POOR."

 Re: Babies
I recently did without even trying. I really didn't want two, acctually. I was making a story and there were NOT supposed to be two! I acctually used my mastercontroller to get rid of one of them. ... *sheepish face*

 Re: Babies
I used to get rid of unwanted babies in TS2 a lot. Sims don't really care that their baby is missing. XD
Anyways, I can only think of one time I got twins and didn't need twins. That family ended up with 5 children and the 5 kids were actually gen 10. It was wild.

 Re: Babies
If you want to get twin girls, feed your pregnant sim with two apples (three if you want triplets). If you want twin boys , feed the pregnant sim with two watermelons (three if you want triplets). :)

 Re: Babies
Its the other way around. Apples for boys and watermelon for girls. I usually want girls, so I feed my soon-to-be-moms watermelons, and it's always worked so far. And I'm pretty sure the number given to the soon-to-be-mom doesn't matter either. Otherwise I should have gotten triplets mutliple times, and I never did. Even twins are uncommon.
Anyway, back to topic, I don't know whether Generations altered the odds, but I've had twins several times, even without using fertility treatment. Boys and girls alike. One thing though... I've never had it mixed... Has anyone ever had a boy-girl twin?

 Re: Babies
The only boy-girl twins I've ever had in TS3 were from a major PITA process described in my post, 13th in the list, here: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=30130Since Generations and the included "Edit Sim in CAS" cheat, though, I changed one set of boy twins to be boy-girl. I HATEHATEHATE how it's so hard to have mixed-gender twins in TS3 when it was effortless (literally) and common in TS2.

 Re: Babies
I've actually had a few mixed-gender twins when my game was working.

 Re: Babies
Congradulations! For some strange reason though for my sims once they managed to have twins for the first time, there is a likely chance they'll have another set twins next time they're pregnant. I don't use the ferility treatment much now a days i just get what i get in the end. Though one of my problems in my game. Certain sims seem to be cursed with one particular gender and no matter how many kids they have it's nothing but girls or boys! It took 8 kids later for one of my sims to have a boy, i loved him so much, it's almost like he was the pride of the family, same goes for another family of mine except it was nothing but boys except one girl, she was the 10th . Anyways Back to back twins happened alot in my game . Quite the handful though, and i'll only had triplets a few times in the game, and they're a nightmare. I've gotten shivers just thinking about it, one crys and wakes the other ones, suddenly they're all hungry, having to teach them all how to walk, talk, and potty is pain in the.... well you get the picture.

 Re: Babies
^^^ I find that aswell. If my sims have a boy for their fist child then subsequent children will all be boys too, same if they have a girl first. It is rather annoying! lol I'd like to have two boys and a girl or two girls and a boy or even just one of each sometimes, I'm not one for having huge amounts of kids, I tend to have two or three then focus on the career or focus on the career first then just end up having one kid 'cos I realise I've only got like 5 or 6 days until the become an elder (gutted. lol) I have change the aging though so I now have longer as a young adult and an adult :-)
Can someone please clarify that if I want a girl I get my sim to eat watermelon and if I want a boy I get my sim to eat apples?? Does it also work from one pregnancy to another? Like, for the first pregnancy if I want a girl and I get my sim to eat watermelons does this have any impact on the second pregnany if I want a boy? Or will I carry on having girls no matter how many apples I eat during the sencond pregnancy?? If all that makes sense. Cheers

 Re: Babies
Yep, watermelons for girls and apples for boys. Your mother sim needs to eat them before she "pops". By the time she "pops" then gender is already locked in and eating watermelons or apples will not work anymore.

I've done it right before she gives birth...

 Re: Babies
Pretty sure. I've tried reloading to get a different gender in the past and it will never change. I read it somewhere anyways, I just can't recall where.

 Re: Babies
That's not right. The gender is locked in once she "pops" but it can still be changed with fruit. Also, I might be wrong but in my experience she needs to eat at least three of the fruit after. Another thing, if you have a doctor confirm that the baby is, say, a boy, eating watermelons won't change that. Unless you're having twins/triplets, then it'll be a mixed set.

 Re: Babies
This is where I read it: http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/skills/parenting/ It says it on down the page. I might experiment with this myself but I'm really pissed off at my game at the moment. But in my experience this person is right. Your sim could eat 50 apples right before they give birth but if it's a girl by that point, it's a girl and you won't change it to a boy.

 Re: Babies
I'm sure I've made my sim eat apple or watermelons after she "pops" and she always gives birth to the gender I wanted - whether or not that's been a coincidence, I don't know! I haven't done it much but when I do, I make the pregnant sim eat 3 of the fruit just sometime before she has the baby.
