Re: Unused Accessories Megathread: Your #1 Guide to Maxis's
I'm been looking for demos and such of TS2 in hopes of digging around on the data, but not much luck. This is only a theory, but I gotta wonder if there are any demos out there that we could get our mitts on, there would sure to be a goldmine of unused and/or beta stuff on it.

I doubt it, and expeically after this much time.. I'm sure all demos are in EA's offices on disks collecting dust. It's really unfourtunate. We have to wait til someone comes out and releases stuff, kind of like the guy who has been releasing stuff on SimCity 4.

Yeah, that would be...nice. XD But what do you mean SimCity 4 stuff? Someone finding unused stuff in the data?

Offtopic: Oh no, he was a developer and he releases early beta videos and explainations of how things worked, it's actually kind cool. I see them on SimPrograms every once in a blue moon. Let me see if i can find it.
Re: Unused Accessories Megathread: Your #1 Guide to Maxis's
This intrigued me so much I had to join the forum and make a post! I did a bit of digging myself, I found quite a bit. The Sims 2 base game files included a few intresting things. Textures for the kids on the bus, the textures are child faces and clothes from The Sims. I found sprites in the neighborhood files called WalkingSim, It was a 2D animation of a man walking, It looks like it would have been used to walk on the sidewalks around your neighborhood.
I found out that the televisions used to play animations instead of .AVI files. It had this cute little live action The Sims parody, it is a blurry and hard to see, though. I found some more television textures that contained some shots from random real-life TV shows, like leave it to beaver. It also has the animations that the game console used (A soccer game and an old snowboarding game.)
I have to mention that The Sims Pet Stories was completely reorganized, it includes beta stuff that isn't in any other games. I haven't had the chance to look through all of it. In the game files for it, I found a beta version of the Goth house. I already checked The C.A.S. demos and they don't have anything intresting except the beta CAS podium that was a big medal box with two bars across it.

Re: Unused Accessories Megathread: Your #1 Guide to Maxis's
Sorry, I forgot all about this, I've had a busy last few weeks. Anyway, I found the files, I had lost it when I was reorganizing some stuff. So as an apology, I brought pictures!
Both of these things are neighborhood decorations. The bottom is the Goth house, neither of these have textures. I find the Goth house really interesting, Its architecture looks more second empire than the design of the house that was chosen. A fence surrounds the house, in the front there is a small patio with to large bushes on both sides. Three small dormers built into the back of the curved roofing. Sadly, It is the only one I am currently able to find, I would love to see a placeholder for the Pleasant house.
This is the best picture that I have of this. Better images exist but, I can't find them. The file is tvscreenanimations-screen-simscommerical_txtr_256x256. It is a live action parody of The Sims, It includes a boy with a llama. (Oh, Maxis... )
If you follow Lost & found Items this is probably familiar. This is a top down sprite of the Neighborhood "Sea Monster" mesh. What was this for?
This is of course, the already mentioned WalkingSim sprite.
I made two more awesome discoveries. There is a online resource on Will Wright that has picture of the beta version of Neighborhood #1. Sadly, It is really tiny and blurry. Oh, and Jerry Martin (The composer for The Sims.) composed some music for The Sims 2, that was unused. Four tracks but, I could only find two.
Sorry for any grammar mistakes but, it's like two in the morning and I should have been in bed an hour ago.

Wow, you dug deep! I miss going and finding this stuff!!!
Looks like I was wrong! I think I found Mortimer's hair.
Pity I don't know how to get it into the game... yet.
when i ticked all the boxes in SimPE, the hair looked like the one that is already in the game that can be used

Yep, I found out not long after I posted it that it was a completely different hairstyle already in the game. Mortimer's hair was called "amhairpeak" or whatever. They changed the mesh quite a bit but it's still in the game, kind of. Oh well.

i now wonder, maybe if we try some of the hairstyles from a different age group and then age to a another, maybe a hidden hair would appear.
for example it is mentioned in the link that if you use the bear cap that came with NL and age the toddler, a lost hair would appear. so what about the rest of the hair?

Wow. Hmm. I wonder if TS3 is this messed up. I headed a thread searching through Sims 3 files at one point. It was a really unique experience, going through fullbuild0.package.

i still love this thread after 2 years i think xD it is really alot of mystery things in Sims 2. is there any thread with Sims 3 stuffs instead of Sims 2 stuffs?? would be fun to see what EA took from Sims 1 and sims 2, and ofcourse what they took out from the alpha and beta for Sims 3..
