Alright, I know this has been mentioned before, but this is a compilation of ideas and a few of my own :

Casinos :
A idea that is around a lot is incorporating hotels into casinos. Which is the obvious choice. However, NO RABBIT HOLES. We want to be able to choose what machines we want to use.
Forms of machines :
Cards : This skill helps you with Poker and 21. The higher the skill, the bigger chance of getting a, royal flush per say.
Roulette : The lucky trait comes in perfectly for this. Unlike cards, you can't buy skill books for them.
Slot Machines : Obviously. You can't have a casino / gambling expansion pack without these. :P
Traits :
Wheel Of Fortune : Become better at Roulette faster than normal Sims
Bust : These poor Sims will loose on Card Games more times than they win
Poker Face : These Sims are the best at Poker.
Lightning Hands : These Sims make the best people to work at Casinos
Jobs :
Casino Worker : Start as a card sorter, end up as the manager :P
Swindler : Criminal Branch-off for becoming... a bit TOO good at Card Games.
Items :
Slot Machines
Poker Table
Roulette...thing
Other Things :
1. Young Adults and older can use the Gambling machines
2. Teenagers can sneak onto slot machines
3. Anyone can play a game of 21. Its harmless fun.
4. Different types of Casinos :
Backstreet : Shady Type ones for the criminals.
Normal : Normal payout, normal people
Super Casino : Las Vegas. Need I say more?

I'd imagine that the hotel and casino would most likely be rabbit holes since EA is lazy. I don't mind rabbit holes much, but is it really so much to ask as to make the system work in a different way.

Like for example, how about instead of a school being a rabbit hole. Make it so that only the classrooms in the school are rabbit holes and black them out. Then you could keep the gym, cafeteria, library, etc... open. I can imagine this being used for theaters too.

Anyway, yeah, casinos and hotels should be open, but I would still like there to be a minigame where if you goto a blackjack table. You could play blackjack.

Yeah. I like that idea, as you said, to watch your Sim through the school.

And basically skip the boring part of actually watching them in class. Perhaps you could even have that menu pop up with options like "Pass notes" "focus" "slack off" "draw" and "chat with classmates".
