Post Re: SimCity Anounced!!
I'm a little interested....but I'm still throwing caution to the wind. So it's a mess until proven otherwise.

I really like the idea of the multiplayer, actual multiplayer and not some silly facebook nonsense.

It's really neat to think you can work with your friends on making a super continent/region. I wonder how many friends can be connected at once. I hope it's a reasonable high number. (like 20 maybe) It won't feel like a proper region of cities if it's just 4 of us.

Im interested though worried.
Pros:
- Multiplayer
-It seems full regions are back
- More traditional simcity
-Curved roads
-zoning is back

Cons:
- The concept art worries me, the buildings all have too much going on with them (specifically the police station/school)
- I'm not a huge fan of upgrading and adding stuff on, it sounds kind of gimmicky

Overall i'm interested, however Lucy Brandshaw said that this was NOT going to be the most complex simcity, and would be completely different from SC4 :'(
I swear to god, if they go the societies way, even slightly i will shoot something. :stare:
(THERE BETTER BE NONE OF THAT PLOPPING EVERY BUILDING SHINANIGANS....

EDIT: A look at Glassbox a well as possible first gameplay footage of simcity...
http://www.hardwareclips.com/video/7183 ... final-1of4
It looks really cartoony, and not very simcityish :/

I'm interested how they mention each individual sim will be simulated. It would be pretty nice to follow a family of sims and see how they live their lives and how what you do effects them. (I'm not sure if this was in previous games? They talk about it as if it wasn't)

They also talk about how every sound is actually something happening, not just filler. Which is kind of cool.

That sounds really cool. I wonder if you can choose different architectural styles. In Simcity 4 Deluxe you could choose from Los Angeles, Houston, New York, and Chicago styles pertaining to a certain period. I'd like to see more specific styles, such as Mediterranean, modern, Art Deco, etc. The game looks real nice though.

The GlassBox technology they built to make this looks incredible! Everything's physics-based, every sim is individual and simulated accordingly. I hope to god Maxis are involved in The Sims 4, because from the looks of it, SimCity's going to be one hell of a game.

I really just like the concept. Nothing is "stupid" based. I really can't wait :D

I have my doubts for this game especially because of EA and SimCity Societies.

Maxis weren't responsible for SimCity Societies.

Maxis is still a division of EA, no?

In the new issue of PCGamer (May) there's a big article on SimCity. It looks great!

EDIT: Check out the official web site. DROOL! http://www.simcity.com/en_US

Ooh! SimCity was the first game I ever played (I think anyway), so I'm pretty hyped up for this. I'm so pumped for the multiplayer aspect of the game. Now I don't have to worry about my city being capable of everything when I can work out deals with other cities.

I would definitely like to see more variations in styles within the cities. Like, I currently live in Bergen (Norway's second city) but there's not a skyscraper in sight. Of course, that means I won't be building a massive metropolis like London, but with the new multiplayer option, I don't have to ruin the beautiful nature around my city by plonking a coal station right in the middle of my city when I can just import power.

I think Maxis are merging with The Sims Studio, which could mean there is hope for The Sims 4, but I'm sure whatever Maxis come up with, EA will stomp on and ruin it.

Ugh I really wish Maxis' charm came back. I saw it a tiny bit when The Sims 3 was released, but as soon as World Adventures came out it was gone. Now with Generations and Showtime... slaughtered.
