i think they deserve it, just look at what they have done with The Sims and look at how they treat their employes. well i applaud you EA!

They freaking deserve it... The next EP will probably be "The Sims 3: Katy Perry SEASONAL Fruits!" with raining gumdrops and swiming in chocolate. But not the ocean.

Pretty much all of what they found wrong with EA can be applied to The Sims...

$30 an expansion pack (this is just US based... internationally they charge buttloads more), $20 a stuff pack, charging extra to have a giant image of Katy Perry on your game case... check.

There have even been numerous accusations that EA and its ilk deliberately hold back game content with the sole intent of charging a fee for it at a later date.
The Sims 3 Store is basically based off this idea.

It's one thing to support a game with new content that is worth the price. It's another to put out an inferior — and occasionally broken — product with the mindset of "ah, we'll fix it later and make some money for doing so."
Oh God, how completely and truly accurate given the amounts of patches released just after expansion packs come out to fix problems they didn't fix before releasing the game.

New, independent game companies do pop up all the time, but the cost of entering the market has historically been too expensive, making these indie innovators prime targets for acquisition by mega-publishers like EA.
Kinda what happened with Maxis... definitely what happened with The Sims series.

That's such a fucking shame... The Sims franchise has SO MUCH potential to be a company everyone loves. Instead we are just a bunch of consumers.

I swear most of things EA touch end up being ruined...
ME3, Sims series is not what it used to be, TOR's a disappointment compared to Galaxies, Battlefield 3 won't let me play. Etc etc.

EA Definitely deserves this award.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the last expansion pack for the franchise will be called "The Sims 3: Give Us What's Left of Your Gaming Money."

I mean, yeah, I totally agree with this article. I'd say it's quite spot on for EA's Standards. Bunch of money-grabbing and soul-taking reapers.

In other news, I don't know if it is this articles(and outcrys from fans agreeing with it and criticizing EA over it) or the state of their financial stocks, but I hear that we may see John Riccitiello getting sacked in the near future :)

John "Social gaming is the new way of the future so let's shove it down everyone's throats and other such bad decisions" Riccitiello.

If he indeed does get fired, I cannot help it might indeed means some amount of good news :)

Edit: Of course, now the chairman of investors has spoken in his favor recently apparently.... but then again in any industries that is often done to keep up appearance and prevent further stock slides.
With Riccitiello's tenure having taken EA from stocks worth 60$ a share to as little as 11.25$ a share as currently... well, let's just say I highly doubt he will truly be kept for much longer. As even someone like analyst Michael Patcher's said, there's something to be said when someone's now at the -fifth- year of their "three years turnaround" and stocks are still sliding downward.

Who knows, we may someday see EA purchased by someone else... apparently there were rumors of of people releated to Zenimax being interested in EA(For the interested, Zenimax is Bethesda's parent company, and we should all know the resounding successes and freedom Bethesda has managed to get in producing mainly single-players driven game series with customizable characers... it would be kind of funny to see the Sims Studios/Maxis teamed with such folks and given similar level of true support and ressources :) )
