Post Need Computer advice!
Hello fellow Simmers
Ever since Sims 3 came out I’ve wanted to play it, I even bought it. But I’ve never, NEVER, been able to play it. I didn’t have the proper computer or money to buy one.

Now, I’m on the verge of obtaining said computer and I find my self trying to find the proper gaming computer to play it one.

I’m seriously NOT good at computers, well the workings of one at least.

I can’t get a straight answer from anyone about which computer is best for Sims 3. I know Alienware is probably the best option but I don’t really want one unless its cheap and I know where I can find one. I have no ideas really.

I was thinking of buying this Gateway but I’m still not sure about it http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway+-+Desktop+and+21.5%22+Widescreen+Flat-Panel+LCD+HD+Monitor+-+4GB+Memory+-+750GB+Hard+Drive/4819229.p?id=1218535465952&skuId=4819229&st=Gateway%20desk%20top&cp=1&lp=3

I was wondering what other fellow simmers like you could tell me, I desperately need advice. At first I wanted a MAC but I found out Create-a-world only works for PCs, plus they’er cheaper.

I’d appreciate any and all advice, thanks

I wouldn't go alienware just cause there are cheaper computers that are just as good, plus alienware is made by dell...
Mac's are super expensive to so I'd stay away from that...
That Gateway is nice, plus I hear they are a good brand, but you might have a few problems with it's video memory being shared. I'd look for a dedicated video card, but I don't know how much you wanna do. It's really good for it's price though :)

This is my computer: http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/ ... 61e201en02

It's a beast but I had to buy a monitor and find speakers and get a wireless adapter. :P It's pretty fantastic though, I run sims on it's highest graphics.

thanks for responding

I mainly only want to play the base game, Ambitions and Town life. With Create-a-world downloaded.

Someone on a different forum suggested a I get a computer custom built and while I'm in the processes of talking to an independent shop. I realize that they might just build me the COMPUTER and not a monitor. It'll also cost me 4 times as much as the Gateway is. UNLESS they throw in a monitor with the already decide price; I might just buy the Gateway after all.

Building your own computer can be a challenge, you need to be pretty good at navigating so you don't do something wrong or end up paying more, plus you do need to buy a monitor also.
However, the brand of my computer, Cyberpower, will let you custom build on their sight, if you are looking for that sort of thing.
I just got one that was already built because I don't feel comfortable making it on my own.
Sims is pretty huge though... :P Just in general. It all depends on what you want though :)
